New York Streets the newest National Arena League Team

The National Arena League (NAL) is wrapping up the regular season, which means teams are looking to finish strong and the league is getting serious about expansion teams.

One team may have jumped the gun with the expansion process.

New York Streets the newest National Arena League Team

Teams jumping the gun on what league they are playing for is not a new thing to the NAL, after what the Massachusetts Pirates did last off-season.

The Pirates posted on Facebook that they are joining the NAL one month and seven days before the press conference by the league made it official to the public.

This year is no different, as a team in the Tri-Cities area announced on Facebook that they are playing in the NAL.

This team, the New York Streets, posted on Facebook, created a video and even published a website.

Part of their site claims that in 2019, the league will include two conferences, an east and a west one and that New York will be a part of the Eastern Conference.

With the part of two conferences being added, this hints toward westward expansion. Since the Eastern Division was mentioned, there is likely a Western Conference to rival them.

The Streets currently put the NAL at seven teams going into the 2019 NAL season, unless a team from the 2018 season folds. That will not happen since all teams had to sign a three-year agreement with the NAL.

The league also registered a trademark to the Nashville Kats, which if that holds official will bring the league total to eight teams going into the 2019 year.

Timeframe on expansion teams

There should be something out from the league on expansion shortly after the National Arena Bowl on expansion teams.

Last year, the league released all of the expansion news in November and December. This year should somewhat be the same, especially with schedules being made.
