Popular Songs Last Time the Sioux Falls Storm Started 0-1

The Sioux Falls Storm lost to the Arizona Rattlers 33-39 in Week One of the 2018 Indoor Football League (IFL) season. Let’s take a look at some songs that were popular the last time the Sioux Falls Storm started their season 0-1.

Popular Songs Last Time Sioux Falls Storm Started 0-1

Before we start our list, let’s first mention that the Storm were not in the IFL when this happened. Keep in mind that the IFL started playing in 2008 and the Storm didn’t join until 2009.

The Storm were in the United Indoor Football (UIF) Northern Division when they lost to the Omaha Beef 31-55 on March 19, 2005.

Spoiler alert! The Storm ended up winning United Bowl IV over the Bloomington Edge 40-35 and won National Indoor Bowl I over the Louisiana Swashbucklers 54-42.

“We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey

This song was released on March 29, 2005. On that day, the Storm were 1-1 after winning in week two. They didn’t have the ideal start, only going 3-3 in their first six games.

“Candy Shop” by 50 Cent

This song was released on February 5, 2005. Since it was shortly before the season started, we could just say that the team possibly hit up the candy shop before the season started and got out of shape for that first game when they got blown out 31-55. Makes sense, right?

“Gold Digger” by Kanye West

This song was released on July 5, 2005. On the day of this release, the Storm were still figuring out what worked and what didn’t work, sitting at 7-7. After this song came out, however, the Storm went on a 3-1 rally.

“Run It!” by Chris Brown

Indoor football is known for running the ball more than the arena leagues. Why not “Run It!”? The song came out on June 30, 2005 when the Storm were 7-6. Running the ball probably worked because they ended up finishing the season 11-8.

“Don’t Phunk With My Heart” by The Black Eyed Peas

This song came out on April 12, 2005, a perfect time for Sioux Falls fans as they were about to have a roller coaster of a season. Their team song for that year may as well be this song, especially with all the winning, losing, and close games against their opponents.

“Don’t Cha” by Pussycat Dolls ft. Busta Rhymes

“Don’t Cha” was released on April 19, 2005. Just like the issues that this song has with jealousy, the Sioux Falls Storm were having issues with their season. The top teams were probably thinking “Don’t cha wish your season was hot like me”.

“Lost Control” by Missy Elliott

This song was released on May 27, 2005. The day after the release of this song, the Storm manhandled the Black Hills Red Dogs 55-15. If the Storm used this song as a pump up song, it sure did work because they won by 35. It didn’t work out in the long run since they finished 4-5 on the season.

“Sugar, We’re Goin Down” by Fall Out Boy

This song was one of the best songs of the year and still is a great song to some today. On April 12, 2005, the same day as the release of “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” by The Black Eyed Peas, the Storm were 2-1 and started a small winning streak a little less than a month later, advancing to 7-4.

“Switch” by Will Smith

This song was released on February 15, 2015. Again, this was before the season started, so who knows what they were listening to before the season started, whether it was “Candy Shop” by 50 Cent or this song. Let’s just say that the Storm needed a switch at a couple positions to turn their season around during the season shortly ahead of them.

“Bad Day” by Daniel Powter

The Storm definitely had a bad day during the season opener in 2018, but did they have a bad day on June 27, 2005? They indeed were having a bad day. They were actually having a bad day for 28 days to be exact, since that is when they went on their four game losing streak. The “drought” started on June 11 when they lost to the Lexington Horsemen 43-61 and continued all the way through July 8, when they finally beat the Black Hills Red Dogs on July 9, 65-14.

What else did we miss?

Be sure to tell us in the comments what we missed and what your favorite song was from 2005. Was it on this list? We sure don’t want you to have a “Bad Day”.
