Andretti Driver Franck Montagny Tests Positive for Cocaine

Former Formula One, IndyCar and WEC driver and current Formula E driver Franck Montagny has admitted to taking cocaine around the time of the Putrajaya ePrix. The Frenchman, who became massively popular following his incredible drive to second place in the inaugural Formula E race in Beijing admitted to taking the drug just recently.

This is the first high-profile case of drug taking in motorsport for a long time, and the first time in Formula E’s short history that drug taking has become an issue.

Montagny missed the Punta del Este ePrix due to ‘health reasons’. His place in the team is clearly under fire following today’s news. Charles Pic, Jean-Eric Vergne and Matthew Brabham have also raced for the American team, but it was Montagny who has produced the team’s best result to date: that second place at Beijing.

Andretti Autosport is yet to comment on the situation. The next Formula E round is at Buenos Aires in Argentina in two weeks time.
