Week 13 CFL Predictions

With the post-Labour Day rematches in the books, CFL teams and fans are starting to look ahead to November. Only a few precious weeks left, and the playoff picture will soon start to emerge. And despite everything that’s happened so far this year… yes, Saskatchewan still has a chance of making the post-season. So take a look at our LWOS prognosticators’ week 13 CFL predictions below, and let us know your take in the comments!

Week 13 CFL Predictions

B.C. Lions at Calgary Stampeders

Gina’s thoughts: Three factors affect this week’s B.C.-Calgary game. First, after losing last week to the Eskimos, the Stamps will be fired up to win. Coach Hufnagel’s comments post-game were that the team didn’t play good football, and the Stampeders are unlikely to lose two in a row, especially not at home. Second, and probably most undeniably, B.C. has been very inconsistent. John Beck will be starting quarterback again for an injured Lulay. Beck won’t be able to keep up with Calgary’s renewed defence. Third factor? Jon Cornish is back in the game after being off with a broken thumb. He’ll be eager to regain his form and run through BC’s defence in front of the home crowd. Calgary will come out on top this week.

Kelly Bale: B.C. 18 – Calgary 37
Matthew Bin: B.C. 12 – Calgary 31
Nicholas di Giovanni: B.C. 12 – Calgary 39
Greg McCulloch: B.C. 20 – Calgary 35
Gina Schiltz: B.C. 20 – Calgary 31

Edmonton Eskimos at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Kelly’s thoughts: The Edmonton Eskimos take the momentum they have built and roll into Hamilton this week to face the Tiger Cats. This Saturday afternoon contest is without a doubt the CFL’s match-up of the week. Edmonton has taken the pole position in the league’s power rankings, and for good reason. Second in the west standings at 7-4, the Eskimos beat the 8-3 Calgary Stampeders after twelve previous losses. That’s called getting over the igloo in the Alberta capital. Hamilton had their own breakthough last week, sweeping their rival Toronto Argonauts for the first time since 2010. Riding a two-game win streak, you have to pick the Tiger-Cats at raucous Tim Hortons Field, Especially considering the Eskimos road record (1-2) and their loss at home to Hamilton earlier this season.

Kelly Bale: Edmonton 27 – Hamilton 29
Matthew Bin: Edmonton 15 – Hamilton 22
Nicholas di Giovanni: Edmonton 27 – Hamilton 28
Greg McCulloch: Edmonton 23 – Hamilton 28
Gina Schiltz: Edmonton 20 – Hamilton 24

Ottawa Redblacks at Saskatchewan Roughriders

Greg’s thoughts: While the Riders defence showed up for the Banjo Bowl, the offence must have missed the trip to Winnipeg as they only put up 7 points on the Bombers. That low production has caused interim Head Coach Bob Dyce to make a switch at QB since Kevin Glenn is ready to come off the 6 game IR. The Redblacks enter Regina on a two game tear, including a 35-13 pounding on the Riders. Ottawa has been a pleasant surprise this year being second in the East, although Henry Burris has never had an easy time at Mosaic Stadium. While the Riders offence should be better under the veteran Glenn, it probably will not be enough to get their second win of the year. Look for the Redblacks to win a tight game.

Kelly Bale: Ottawa 36 – Saskatchewan 25
Matthew Bin: Ottawa 20 – Saskatchewan 18
Nicholas di Giovanni: Ottawa 17 – Saskatchewan 15
Greg McCulloch: Ottawa 30 – Saskatchewan 27
Gina Schiltz: Ottawa 26 – Saskatchewan 22

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Montreal Alouettes

Nick’s thoughts: With the Banjo Bowl trophy in their suitcases, the 4-7 Blue Bombers head to Montreal to face the 4-6 Alouettes. Should be an exciting one! All sarcasm aside, with the never-ending rotation of quarterbacks and both teams’ week one starters on the sideline, it could be interesting to see who will be playing in this one. Matt Nichols will get the nod for the Bombers but after throwing five interceptions two weeks ago, will Tanner Marsh be back on the sidelines? Regardless, the Alouettes could come away with a victory.

Kelly Bale: Winnipeg 19 – Montréal 24
Matthew Bin: Winnipeg 17 – Montréal 20
Nicholas di Giovanni: Winnipeg 21 – Montréal 28
Greg McCulloch: Winnipeg 18 – Montréal 24
Gina Schiltz: Winnipeg 12 – Montréal 29
