A Perfect Draft Prospect Pairing for Each AFC East Team

AFC East Draft

The AFC East is loaded and the draft is an opportunity for each team to take the next step. There’s one perfect draft prospect pairing for each team in the AFC East.

A Perfect Draft Prospect Fit for Each AFC East Team

Buffalo Bills

Xavier Worthy – WR Texas

Whether Worthy gets picked in the back half of the first round or early in the second, he’s a player the Bills should target. The combine helped Worthy’s stock, but he was an impact player for Texas and will enter the draft as a hot prospect. Buffalo moved on from Stefon Diggs but Josh Allen has one of the strongest arms in the league and would benefit from a deep threat like Worthy. The Bills have a slew of receivers who can move the chains but Worthy would give them someone who can stretch the field and keep defenses honest. While his frame could be a concern, Worthy’s skill set makes him a perfect fit in Buffalo.

Miami Dolphins

Laiatu Latu – EDGE Washington

A few years ago, the Dolphins took a chance by drafting Jaelen Phillips in the first round. Phillips and Latu share a similar story, having both switched schools after being medically retired. Both players flashed immense potential as explosive pass rushers in college. Latu enters the draft as a player with one of the highest ceilings, and would instantly upgrade this Dolphins defense. His game resembles Jaguars star Josh Allen, and by adding Latu Miami would receive a boost in their pass rush. The Dolphins could ease Latu into the lineup, and he could learn under Phillips before taking on a bigger role next season.

New England Patriots

Ladd McConkey – WR Georgia

The Patriots are entering a rebuild. Their offense needs a boost after finishing as one of the worst in the league in several categories last season. Adding McConkey would give Patriots fans flashbacks to the days when Julian Edelman and Wes Welker carved up opposing defenses. McConkey fits the Patriots for more than just his play. At Georgia, he was recognized for his contributions off the field. Beyond just moving the chains, McConkey could be a player who helps New England build a culture in the locker room as they reset. His skills as a route runner would make life easier for the new starting quarterback in New England.

New York Jets

JC Latham – OL Alabama

Having played at both tackle and guard in college, Latham enters the NFL Draft as a top prospect at offensive tackle. The Jets are entering a pivotal season but must bolster their offensive line after watching last season slip away when Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury. Rodgers returns but could be on the verge of retirement. This sets up for a big season not only for New York but also for Rodgers. New York could be tempted by one of the top receivers in the draft, but beefing up the offensive line is more of a priority. Latham is massive and projects well at the next level with his blend of power and technique. Drafting Latham would give the Jets flexibility and insurance along the offensive line. His intangibles and high degree make him a perfect fit for New York.
