UFC 183 went live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight.  As always, we here at LWOS have your results.

Anderson Silva defeats Nick Diaz via Unanimous Decision

The Spider dominated Nick Diaz and took home the win in the main event with the judges scoring the bout 49-46, 50-45, 50-45.  While the first round was relatively close, Rounds 2 through 5 were complete and utter domination by Silva, who looked very good in his return to the Octagon after a 13 month layoff.

Most of the fight was spent on the feet, and Diaz and Silva exchanged blows early.  However as the fight went on, it was Anderson Silva who would find his range.  His quick strikes and combinations, both in straight standup and out of the clinch were just too much for Nick Diaz.  Eventually Silva opened up a large gash under Diaz’s eye.  The Spider is back and the middleweight division should be on notice.

Tyrone Woodley defeats Kevin Gastelum by Split Decision

In a co-main event, that has to be considered a bit of a disappointment, Tyrone Woodley defeated Kevin Gastelum 30-27, 29-28, 28-29.  The first round was a bit of a snoozer, and the fans were very vocal with their displeasure as the two seemed to size each other up for much of the five minutes.  As things would go on, the action would start to pick up and Woodley strong right hand became his most effective weapon, as he was able to stun Gastelum several times on his way to the win.

Al Iaquinta defeated Joe Lauzon via TKO (strikes)

Following a relatively even first round, Iaquinta exploded with an unending flurry of punches to Lauzon in the second round.  The fight started with Iaquinta looking for takedowns and Lauzon defending with punches.  However mid-way through the second round, Iaquinta landed a hard right hand that stunned Lauzon.  He then proceeded to follow that up with some vicious offence, forcing referee Marc Goddard to stop the fight.

Thales Leites defeated Tim Boetsch via second-round submission (Arm-Triangle)

Tim Boetsch seemed to be taking control of the fight and looked on his way to a second round TKO after stunning Thales Leites with a series of hard punches.  However, a quick takedown by Leites changed the tide and he sunk in an arm-triangle to get the come from behind submission victory.

Thiago Alves defeated Jordan Mein via second-round TKO

Jordan Mein looked like the better fighter early, and easily took the first round with a solid stand-up performance. However Thiago Alves came out like a man possessed in the second round and landed a hard kick to the body.  He followed that up with a series of shots that led to the TKO.

Prelim Main Event
Miesha Tate defeated Sara McMann via Majority Decision

Sara McMann dominated Tate in round one, getting in a couple of early punches to knock Tate to the mat.  She would stay on top landing some vicious ground and pound to really take control of the fight.  That was followed by a strong start for McMann in the second round, however a late submission attempt by Tate that say McMann be saved by the bell meant that the scoring really could have gone either way.  The third round wasn’t close as this time it was Tate on top, in side-control and half guard, controlling the fight and reigning down blows on McMann.  The judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, and 28-28 for Tate.

Derek Brunson defeated Ed Herman via first-round TKO (punches)

Brunson made short work of Herman, knocking him out in just 36 seconds.  A pair of lefts stunned Herman and sent him to the mat, where Brunson was able to finish him off with the ground and pound.
