Fuel it Up! Bristol Paint Scheme Award, Sensitivity Training, and the Grit Chips 300?

Welcome to “Fuel It Up”!  The racing world is chopped full of intriguing stories, but sifting through them to get a good general sense of the landscape can be challenging.  In Fuel It Up, I take the biggest, most interesting storylines and present them to you in a quick, compact 300-words-or-less format.

The winner of the Bristol Races Paint scheme of the week goes to the #39 car of Ryan Newman.  Pretty slick look on the HAAS Automation Chevrolet – sex on wheels………Specialist Mary Potts of the 129th Army Band and Tennessee National Guard will perform the National Anthem.  The Grand Marshall will be University of Tennessee Head Football Coach Butch Jones ……… Suspended Nationwide driver Jeremy Clements has been reinstated by NASCAR and is scheduled to run in the Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300.  That’s not a joke.  There must be such a thing as a Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chip.  Clements, you may remember, was the Bozo who uttered the “N” word while being interviewed on opening weekend in Daytona.  He has completed sensitivity training.  Let’s hope it worked, but fingers are crosseD really, really hard.……44 cars have been entered in the Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chips 300…… After a promising start at Daytona for Danica Patrick she’s come crashing back to earth in the last two races.  You can expect more ups and downs with more downs then ups until she gains more experience……Dale Earnhardt Jr. is off to a great start sitting only 10 points behind the leader Jimmie Johnson and only 5 point behind second place driver Brad Keselowski.  That makes a lot of fans of NASCAR’s most popular driver for the 10th year in a row, very happy…… AJ Allmendinger will drive the #51 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet at Bristol Sunday. Doesn’t “Allmendinger” just roll off the tongue?…… In a recent Forbes list of highest paid drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. topped the list at $25.9 million.  The other top five drivers were: Jimmie Johnson ($23 million), Tony Stewart ($18.7 million),   and Jeff Gordon ($18.1 million).  Danica Patrick sits 7th on the list at $12.9 million……Weather forecast for Sunday in Bristol calls for Partly Cloudy skies with temperatures in the 60’s.
