MONTREAL, QC – A CF Montreal offensive explosion took place as Romell Quioto scored a brace and CF Montreal extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. As a result, CF Montreal defeated the New England Revolution in front of a sell-out crowd at Saputo Stadium.

A solid first half for CFMTL
The first dangerous action of the game came in the fourth minute when Montreal earned their first corner of the game but it was headed wide and out of bounds. Montreal earned another corner in the 18-minute but it was punched away by the Revolution goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović.

Quioto tested Petrovic minutes later off a sloppy turnover by the defense with the first shot on target of the game but went right into his chest as he dived to make the save. Kei Kamara opened the scoring in the 26-minute when he got a brilliant pass from Romell Quioto and buried it into the back of the net.
CF Montreal doubled its lead in the 39-minute once again off a turnover from the visitor’s defense and Mathieu Choinieire got the ball and found Kamara who found Lassi Lappalainen and gave a sublime pass to Quioto who put the ball into the back of the net.
The first half finished after one minute of additional time and CF Montreal went to the locker room up by two goals with 45 minutes to go.

Montreal made it 3-0, 10 minutes into the second half as Quioto scored his second of the game when he got the ball with a great long cross from Samuel Piette and beat Petrovic with a great deke and shot into the net. Quioto looking for the hat trick had a great chance in the 60th minute but his shot was blocked by the foot of Petrovic.
James Pantemis who got the start in goal tonight made his first save 10 minutes later as he dived to deny Emmanuel Boateng. Wilfried made two changes two minutes later subbing in Mason Toye and Joaquin Torres for Lappalainen and Quioto.
Nancy made his final three changes in the 77-minute bringing in Matko Miljevic, Ismael Kone, and Zorhan Basshong for Kei Kamara, Samuel Piette, and Mathieu Choiniere. Pantemis made another game-saving save in the 82-minute to keep his clean sheet alive.

In the 88-minute, Miljevic was taken down in the box and the ref pointed to the spot meaning a penalty kick but then the ref decided to go to VAR to review the play, and after further review, it was deemed a penalty, and Miljevic with a great kick made it 4-0.
After five minutes of added time, the final whistle blew and CF Montreal had extended its unbeaten streak to seven games.
Wilfried Nancy “It could have been perfect but I am happy”
“The group is really important, I am really happy with our defense, they did a really good job, it could have been better and the spirit was there, Romell Quioto and Kei Kamara were our key strikers tonight and they did a really good performance tonight”.
Kamal Miller “We took advantage of their fatigue level”
Kamal Miller spoke about the fact of playing a team that had played three games in seven days and that they were suffering from fatigue.
“100% you can see their players fading at the end of the first half, in the 6oth minute asking for subs so we took advantage of that for sure”.
Samuel Piette “It wasn’t perfect but it was a great performance”
“It wasn’t at all perfect and I think we struggled towards the end of the second half and they had to push and we made some changes and I think we were really solid defensively and it shows our character and our mentality to keep the clean sheet and send the message to the league that we are a strong team”.
CF Montreal will look to make it eight games in a row without a loss as they head to the windy city to face the Chicago Fire next Saturday at Soldier Field. It has been an impressive run for Montreal, who have won three road games within that seven-game unbeaten run. This includes CF Montreal road wins against D.C. United, Columbus Crew SC, and the Houston Dynamo.
