ORLANDO, Fla. – The New York Red Bulls were trying to book their spot in the Round of 16 of the MLS is Back tournament while FC Cincinnati were also a win away from the knockout stage after their upset win over Atlanta FC. The game started at a very slow pace with the New York Red Bulls jumping out of the gates in a very aggressive attacking style.

Even at that pace, it took New York 10 minutes for them to get a shot on goal as FC Cincinnati seemed comfortable sitting back and waiting for the counter. You could tell New York Red Bulls were dominating the possession but FC Cincinnati finally got a breakthrough at the 19th minute for their first shot on target.

To the 42nd minute we go and FC Cincinnati patience had paid off as off a throw-in they countered and Yuya Kubo got a great shot on goal that beat Red Bulls keeper David Jensen to make it 1-0 FC Cincinnati.

The first half would finish on that score line and to the 2nd half we go. The next 45 minutes of the match offered much of the same as we saw an attacking formation from the New York Red Bulls while FCC sat back and defended while looking for the counter.

In the 56 minute FCC earned a corner and Haris Medunjanin shot went off Florian Valot and into the back of the net to increase their lead to 2. That basically put FCC in a very good spot and put even more pressure on the New York Red Bulls to get a goal or else they were on their way home.

The New York Red Bulls spent the rest of the game attacking and trying to get a breakthrough while FCC sat back and played quite an impressive defensive game. The Red Bulls were able to get some shots on net but Przemyslaw Tyton was a wall stopping every ball that came his way.

The game would finish on that score line and once again FC Cincinnati pulled off another impressive upset and now both frontrunners at the beginning of the tournament in New York Red Bulls and Atlanta United are going home. FC Cincinnati will have to wait and see who they face in the round of 16 and it could potentially be LAFC or the Portland Timbers.
