LA Galaxy Navy Night Kit: Different, Unique, and Most Importantly Not Plain White

Editorial (February 17, 2019) – The LA Galaxy have released their new secondary kit for the 2019 MLS regular season. Labeled as the ‘LA Galaxy Navy Night’ kit, this year’s version brings a slightly new look on the all blue look the Gs have been wearing for several years.

La Galaxy Navy Night Kit: Different, Unique, and Most Importantly Not Plain White

As initially leaked by defender Rolf Feltscher earlier this week, the kit will feature two-tone blue vertical stripes along the front and lower back of the jersey with some pixelation along the front. The shorts will be the darker of the blue tones featured on the jersey. The jock tag this year remains similar to recent jerseys for the club, reading “This is LA.”

One new feature to the kit that hasn’t showed up before in a Galaxy blue secondary kit is the crest colors. The Galaxy crest on both the shirt and shorts will be primary white with dark blue as the secondary color. There will be no gold on this kit.

Overall, I like this kit. Unlike most of the new secondary kits this year, it’s not boring and white. It’s a different take on the Galaxy’s blue secondary kit. It’s something unique within the league that we haven’t seen before.

Outside of Montreal Impact, nobody does blue and vertical stripes in MLS. The only colors similar to this kit belong to Sporting KC.

Remember also that most MLS teams have dark colors as their primary kits, so the Galaxy don’t wear their secondary kits as often. The white kits with the sash are a good contrast to most other primary kits so the Galaxy often wear their primary kits on the road.

This kit (pending the blue kit curse) should be well-received by the fan base and MLS as a whole.
