Canadian Premier League

Hamilton, ON

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) announced Tuesday that Forge FC will host York9 FC at Tim Hortons Field in the CPL’s inaugural match. The game is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. For fans patiently awaiting the schedule, the rest will be released at a later date.

“Celebrating the launch of our own national soccer league in Hamilton is extremely exciting. This match will mark the official launch of a truly Canadian professional soccer league, and it’s also the beginning of another great rivalry for fans in Hamilton and the York Region/Greater Toronto Area.”

Commissioner David Clanachan addressed media:

“We are beyond excited to kick-off our first season in Hamilton at the end of April. Canadians have been waiting for what seems like forever for their own sanctioned professional league with clubs playing coast to coast. There is no doubt that I share that level of excitement.”

For over a year the Canadian Premier League has been focused on creating a solid foundation that will help grow the game and give fans and players a place to direct their passion for soccer. On April 27, the CPL will begin bringing its brand of professional soccer to communities across our great country.
