LA Galaxy Playoff Push

Now, here are five games Galaxy supporters should be circling on their calendar for the year.

June 29 at San Jose Earthquakes

Yes, it’s obvious but it’s still true. The Cali Clasico match at Stanford Stadium is always one of the best games of the year in MLS. Both teams will have new coaches and the Quakes could be making improvements by June. This could easily be a competitive match with 50,000 people in attendance and Zlatan Ibrahimovic ready to score a minute in and then mouth “are you not entertained?” to the San Jose Ultras.

July 12 vs San Jose Earthquakes

The Cali Clasico will be a relatively short affair in 2019. The teams will play their two games in less than two weeks with the Galaxy hosting a 4th of July match against Toronto FC in between. Expect tensions to still be high no matter what went down at Stanford Stadium.

July 19 vs LAFC

Like the two Cali Clasico games, the El Trafico matches will be no brainers on this list. The Galaxy are undefeated against Los Angeles FC in three matches with a comeback win at home and comeback draw on the road. Expect this game to be a star-studded affair with major implications for the attention of the entire city.

August 11 at D.C. United

This match will see the LA Galaxy make their first every appearance to Audi Field ever. Both teams will be very different then the versions that played just once in 2018. The LA Galaxy will have a new head coach and a very different defense in all likelihood. Wayne Rooney had not yet arrived and energized DCU’s season. This will match two former Manchester United teammates. Add in all the history of these two historic franchises, and this should be a fun one.

August 25 at LAFC

See everything I said about the other LAFC game and add major playoff implications with just six weeks left in the regular season. Enough said.
