Podcast (May 24, 2018) – Hello Rapids fans! Today Rabbi and Red have a bunch to talk about. We recap the New York City FC loss over the weekend and all the bad terrible things that happened. The guys discuss what went wrong, how it happened, what the Colorado Rapids (hopefully) learned from the game, and try to make sense of who deserves the blame.

We then preview this weekend’s match against Portland Timbers. The guys talk about Diego Valeri, the Christmas Tree formation, and Portland’s struggles in Commerce City. We try to figure out how the Rapids can win this one.

In ‘From Field 20,’ Matt gives full injury updates and some relevant stats on Yannick Boli.

Then we get into a full slate of #AskHTHL. We discuss squad selection, the front office, tactical issues, and many more valid concerns Colorado Rapids supporters should have.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Last Word on Soccer and engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since it started. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio. Mark Goodman, aka the Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching MLS or coaching U8 soccer, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. He writes about the Rapids for Around MLS and covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Last Word on Soccer. He also writes for American Soccer Analysis. Follow him on Twitter @rapidsrabbi.
