PHILADELPHIA, PA (January 19, 2018) – In the first round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, the LA Galaxy selected defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce second overall. Hilliard-Arce played college soccer at Stanford University.
Defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce Selected 2nd Overall by LA Galaxy
Hilliard-Arce spent the last four seasons at Stanford. He was a regular his final three seasons there, in which Stanford won three straight NCAA National Championships. In those College Cup competitions, he was named 2016 College Cup All-Tournament Team and was named the 2017 College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
The 22-year-old was a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist this year and was a First Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year his junior and senor season. He played 87 games at the college level, recording 13 goals and five assists.
