On the 22nd week of the 2017 MLS season, all 22 teams are in action this coming weekend. But before that, two games loom. First up is a showcase of the young talent in MLS as the Homegrowns take on the Chivas U-20s Tuesday. Then, the league’s All-Stars have a date with 12-time European champions and current cup holders Real Madrid. Chicago Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic leads his squad against Zinedine Zidane and Los Galacticos at Soldier Field on Wednesday night (8:30 PM ET, FS1).

Last Word SC MLS Pick ‘Em: Week 22

In addition to the All-Star game, an intriguing U.S. Open Cup tie is on the docket midweek. It’s a battle of lower-division foes as Miami FC of the NASL hosts the USL’s FC Cincinnati. Both teams are coming off two straight upsets of MLS clubs. Miami upended Orlando City SC and Atlanta United FC to get here, while Cincy shocked in-state side Columbus Crew SC as well as the Fire. The winner hosts the New York Red Bulls in the semifinals.

After those two games, it’s back to MLS action as the home stretch of the 2017 regular season officially begins. Proceedings get started with three games involving home teams in desperate need of a win to salvage their seasons. D.C. United, Philadelphia and Montreal host Toronto FC, FC Dallas and Orlando City respectively. Getting the full three points for any of those teams won’t be easy. That’s especially the case for DC who bring up the rear of the league and are facing the current Supporters’ Shield leaders.

A tripleheader is in store for MLS fans on Sunday. It either begins or ends in Portland with the LA Galaxy traveling to Providence Park to take on the Timbers. Kickoff is preliminarily scheduled for 4 PM ET. But due to potential triple digit temperatures in the weather forecast, the game may get rescheduled for later in the day. Yankee Stadium is the venue for leg two of this year’s Hudson River Derby between New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls. Finally, something’s gotta give at Children’s Mercy Park as Sporting KC and its fantastic defense faces the league’s highest scoring team in Atlanta United.

Robert and Dan took the weekly title after making seven of 13 winning picks in week 21. Both have now reached 100 correct selections for the year. John maintains the overall lead, but Robert made up a bit of ground and trails by just five. Dan is now in third all by himself and only seven spots back with plenty of time to make a late season run.

And now, here they are! Our panel’s picks for MLS Week 22.
