LA Galaxy 2017 Schedule: Five Games To Watch

CARSON, CA (January 12, 2017) – The 2017 MLS Schedule has been released! The LA Galaxy’s full regular season schedule can be seen here.

LA Galaxy 2017 MLS Schedule: Five Games To Watch

The club will open the season on March 4th at home against FC Dallas. Their first nationally televised game will be the following Sunday, March 12th against the Portland Timbers. The Galaxy will finish the season on October 22 at FC Dallas.

Here’s a list of five MUST WATCH games:

April 23rd vs. Seattle Sounders FC

This is the Galaxy’s second nationally televised game. It’s against the MLS Cup Champions and one of the Galaxy’s biggest rivals. LA had a rough loss the last time Seattle came to the StubHub Center. This should be an early season treat.

July 1 at San Jose Earthquakes

Ah, the California Clasico at Stanford Stadium. This is always a highlight for both teams, regardless of where they are in the standings. The Galaxy haven’t won in Palo Alto since 2014. The Quakes have retooled their front office just like the Galaxy this off season. Two different teams, same hatred.

June 21 at Colorado Rapids

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park was a house of horrors for LA in 2016. They lost to the Rapids on a stoppage time goal in Colorado’s home opener. They got eliminated by the Rapids in the playoffs at DSG Park. In general, Colorado had a banner year against LA in 2016. They went 2-1-2 against the Galaxy in 2016. The only loss was off a lucky bounce in the playoff game in LA. Add in the Jermaine Jones factor, and this should be a big match for both sides.

August 19 at Atlanta United FC

The Galaxy don’t have a great record in their first away game against expansion teams. They got blown out (albeit with a reserve roster) in 2015 at Orlando City SC. The lost a very close game last season to New York City FC 1-0. Expansion teams seem to get hyped up when the Gs come to town. Add in a shiny new stadium in Mercedes Benz Stadium, and this one should be good.

October 22 at FC Dallas

The season closer. Both of these teams will be fighting for something in this game. It could be playoff seeding. It could be the Supporter’s Shield. It could be for second leg home advantage against each other. Plus, Dallas has been on the up in recent years. This will be two good teams fighting for something. Should be a barn burner.
