When it comes to the biggest free agents in pro wrestling in the past year, the name Lio Rush comes to mind. Rush was released by WWE in 2020. Following the possibility of retirement, he would make his debut for Major League Wrestling. On the recent edition of MLW FUSION, he challenged Laredo Kid for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship in a unification match.
Since making his debut in MLW, Lio Rush dethroned Myron Reed for the MLW Middleweight Championship. For the past few weeks, Rush has been wanting more competition; this competition would be Laredo Kid, who made his MLW return during the Opera Cup. While he lost the tournament, Laredo Kid decided to defend the AAA Cruiserweight Championship against Zenshi and would gain the attention of Lio Rush.

This match would become an inter-promotion unification match featuring the MLW Middleweight Champion versus the AAA Cruiserweight Champion. In ten minutes and twenty-five seconds, Rush would retain the MLW Middleweight Championship and win the AAA Cruiserweight Championship for the first time in his career. At the end of the show, he established that it was only just the start of things to come in the Rush Hour.
With this victory, Lio Rush is the first-ever inter-promotional double champion in MLW history. His next challenger for either belt is currently unknown. Regardless, history was made here. Lio Rush is focused on the champions of other promotions, such as Darby Allin (AEW TNT Champion) and Hiromu Takahashi (IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion). We could see a new belt collector in our midst.
