Hiromu Takahashi Advances To Night Two Of Wrestle Kingdom 15

Hiromu Takahashi El Phantasmo

On night one of Wrestle Kingdom 15, Hiromu Takahashi defeated El Phantasmo to advance to night two of the premier event and will face Taiji Ishimori in a rematch for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. Takahashi’s win came in the opening match of the event, denying the Bullet Club of a perfect night two in terms of the juniors.

The match was set between the two as Hiromu Takahashi was able to win his second Best of the Super Juniors (BOSJ) for the first time by defeating El Desparado in the final. El Phantasmo found himself in the position by winning the Super J Cup for the second year in a row. The two did everything in their power to one-up one another, as Phantasmo denied Takahashi early of a sunset powerbomb to the floor, while he answered with one of his owns to put the salt in the wound. It looked as though it would go Phantasmo’s way as he worked over the hand and brought the moves of AJ Styles out to aid him, but ultimately Takahashi put the match to rest with a quick roll up as Phantasmo attempted a One-Winged Angel to stun him in the end.

Takahashi will face Ishimori in the semi-main event of night two, which is the biggest spot the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship has received in Wrestle Kingdom history. It seems as though Takahashi will head into the match with a broken hand, which could prove costly.
