Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer and women’s wrestling legend Gail Kim stunned the wrestling world earlier this year when she announced that 2017 would be her final year as an in-ring performer. A 17-year veteran of the industry, Gail Kim has already begun transitioning into her post-ring career with Impact Wrestling, working as a backstage agent/producer for Impact’s Knockouts Division. But she just recently announced that her final Impact match will be when she challenges for the Knockout’s Championship at this year’s Bound For Glory, emanating from her home country of Canada, held in the nation’s capital of Ottawa. Kim will be a part of the Fatal 4-Way for the Knockouts Title, against current champion Sienna, as well as former Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell and Allie.

But while many have stated that her Championship match at Bound For Glory will be her final in-ring appearance as a wrestler, that’s not exactly true. The former 6x Impact Knockouts Champion and WWE Women’s Champion has one last match set, and it’s in her home town of Toronto, Ontario.
To close out the year, Gail Kim will be competing in the CANUSA Classic, a women’s team tournament held annually by Smash Wrestling, as part of Team Canada. So far she’s announced for December 3 in a match against her current Impact sidekick, Allie (formerly Cherry Bomb on the indie circuit), another Smash regular.
So if you live in the Toronto area, there won’t be a dry eye in the building of the Franklin Horner Community Centre, when a true pioneer of women’s wrestling in the past 20 years takes her final bow in the city where it all started.
Tickets are still available through Smash Wrestling’s website, but be warned, they are going fast.
