Willie Mack, who has one of the most inspiring stories in all of professional wrestling, has achieved his first taste of gold in IMPACT Wrestling at night one of Rebellion. This came after weeks and weeks of feuding with Ace Austin; with Ace going as far as taunting Mack’s tag team partner, Rich Swann, who is still recuperating from an injury. Before the match, a video package was shown with Jimmy Jacobs attempting to interview Swann about his health status and the match between Austin and Mack. Ace Austin interrupted the interview and got on camera to tell Swann how he would handle Mack tonight.

The match itself was easily one of the best matches of the year as Mack came down to the ring with purple eye contacts and ring gear, with a look that oozed “this is my time”. Austin, the ever defending champion would have none of it and the two would have a barn burner of a match. Towards the end of the match, Willie Mack hit one of the most unbelievable Stunners to date when he stunned a leaping Austin from what appeared to be coming down from six feet in the air.

The finish came when both men were on the top rope and somehow Mack was able to hit Ace with another Stunner. It looked to deliver an impact from Austin’s head to the top of the ring post itself, dramatically knocking out the “XXX Division Champion.” This was followed by a phenomenal five-star frogsplash from Mack to Austin. Your winner and NEW X-Division Champion is Willie Mack!

As Mack celebrated we would see a returning Rich Swann come towards the entrance ramp and embrace his tag partner on his victory. The two would talk further in the back about the potential to win the tag team titles when Swann would return. This conversation would be interrupted by none other than the Swing Man himself, Johnny Swinger, when he too congratulated Willie Mack on his win. Swinger also challenged him to a match for the X-Division title, with Swinger’s ultimate goal being to have gold and getting more “rizzats”. Swinger then invited Swann and Mack to a party out in the town with him and went to get his car. However, Swann and Mack had other plans and left on their own together.
