What better way to celebrate your biggest show of the year than by calling in two former UK scene favourites Keith Lee and Matt Riddle.  Riddle had big success in PROGRESS where his feud with WALTER helped make the Atlas title one of the hottest in the company for a short period.  Lee didn’t have as much success but was always a big favourite in the UK before joining NXT.  Moustache Mountain was one of the best tag teams in the scene for years before making their way to NXT UK.  Two tag teams made up of four elite performers will collide here in a special attraction match.

PROGRESS Women’s Championship – Jordynne Grace (C) vs Meiko Satomura

PROGRESS Chapter 95

Grace has been PROGRESS Champion for over 200 days.  In this time she has made eight defences and established herself as the top woman in the division by quite a margin.  PROGRESS needed a challenger and they have got a legend of the business Meiko Satomura.  A 24-year veteran, former Mae Young Classic Semi-Finalist, Former Fight Club: PRO champion, Former KO-D Champion, former Wonder Of Starom champion, former Sendai Girls world champion and former two-time AAAW champion has had wars with some of the best of all time and has conquered multiple promotions in both Japan and the UK.  Grace faces her biggest challenge to date at PROGRESS Chapter 95

PROGRESS Tag Team Championships – Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) (C) vs Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher)

The tag team feud that has defined PROGRESS for the past while continues as GYV take on Aussie Open.  The Aussies looked to have taken on all challengers after defeating the Swords Of Essex until GYV arrived back on the scene and took their titles.  Now these teams will do battle one more time after Aussie Open won a number one contenders match at Chapter 94.

PROGRESS World Championship – WALTER (C) vs David Starr

Photo: PROGRESS

A few months ago in the build-up to SSS16 David Starr released a promo.  A scathing commentary on the state of PROGRESS and how many people in the company had “begged for” contracts.  Starr promised to beat the “NXT boys” and he did just that when he beat Jordan Devlin in the finals of the tournament.  Now he has to face not just an NXT boy but the NXT UK Champion WALTER!  These two have waged war against one another for years with David Starr yet to get a victory over WALTER in their 25+ matches.  Once just a rivalry based around one man trying to beat another this is now INDEPENDENT against a man that joined the machine and represents something that fans consider a plague to the scene that WALTER once represented.

Outside of PROGRESS kayfabe one has to wonder what role universal kayfabe will play here.  This is a feud with its roots in Westside Xtreme Wrestling and the moment David Starr finally beats WALTER should belong to wXw but can PROGRESS really have WALTER beat Starr when David is one of the hottest things in wrestling right now?
