Marko Stunt’s Amazing Year Ends in AEW Signing

It was widely assumed after debuting at Fyter Fest alongside Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus, but on his 23rd birthday on Tuesday, viral sensation and indie darling Marko Stunt announced he had officially signed with All Elite Wrestling.

The 23-year old indie star is riding an amazing wave of momentum since he first went viral following his debut with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) at Joey Janela’s Lost in New York show last August 17, 2018. In under a year, that viral explosion led to Marko Stunt entering the 2018 PWG BOLA and entering the Over Budget Battle Royal at ALL IN that September. He continued to work for GCW on multiple shows, as his career skyrocketed after spending the previous few years in near anonymity in the Southern indie scene. His career was briefly derailed last fall when he broke his leg, but he made a remarkable return this past WrestleMania week, where he faced Joey Janela (who had just returned from a similar injury).

It definitely shows the Midas Touch that GCW and the Joey Janela events have had the past year. PCO – who was the breakout of 2019 after facing NXT UK Champion WALTER at 2018’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 2 – signed a deal with Ring of Honor last December (eight months after his comeback began), and another GCW gem, Jungle Boy (plucked from the West Coast scene), has also signed with AEW (may want to keep your eyes on Alex Zayne for the next one).
