Jerry Lawler To Face Mance Warner at GCW/BLP Event

Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) and Black Label Pro (BLP) are two of the hottest US indie promotions in 2019 and with good reason. Both have continued to showcase many niche or regional stars by integrating a growing list of national and international indie stars and bonafide legends from past, present, and future. On Friday, August 30, New Jersey’s GCW and Indiana’s BLP are teaming together for the first time since this past WrestleMania week’s The Collective series of events to produce 2 Cups Stuffed. The event will be held in the Hoffman Estates suburb of Chicago. The event will stream live on PPV on Fite.tv.

The event also features Mexican luchadores like Black Taurus and Rey Horus (Dragon Azteca Jr. in Lucha Underground), Major League Wrestling (MLW)‘s Gringo Loco, and CHIKARA legend Ophidian (and that’s just the first match they announced). But it was the latest match announcement that turned some heads. WWE Hall of Famer and Memphis wrestling icon Jerry “The King” Lawler will face off against former Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) World Heavyweight Champion and MLW star Mance Warner in singles action. Warner is one of 2019’s breakout stars, having worked for years with IWA Mid South before breaking out last year with GCW, CZW, AAW and more.

Jerry Lawler still maintains a fairly steady indie wrestling career – about to enter it’s fifth decade – outside of being an ambassador and occasional announcer for WWE. While it’s slowed down considerably since his 2012 heart attack – he now averages about 10 matches a year when it used to be closer to 20 – he’s still competing in indie promotions like Northeast Wrestling (NEW) and others, facing the likes of Cody Rhodes, Joey Ryan, and Doug Gilbert, rising regional stars, and even some of Terry Funk‘s last matches.

Mance Warner is having a stellar run in the US indies the past year, from national television with MLW, to great matches in GCW, All American Wrestling (AAW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), CZW, and more. He’s had some wars the last few months against the likes of Sami Callihan, Eddie Kingston, Matt Tremont, Jimmy Jacobs, Homicide, Nick Gage, and LA Park. But Lawlor is not afraid to wear a crimson mask and has many epic encounters throughout his 49-year career where he’s had to shed a little blood to get a win.
