Eli Drake Posts Messages Of Heading to Toronto

Earlier this month, IMPACT Wrestling shockingly announced that they had released Eli Drake, amidst some controversy over comments Drake had said on radio interviews about intergender wrestling (that saw him pulled from a match at United We Stand against Tessa Blanchard) and about his current position in the company. At the last set of TV tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Eli Drake had turned on his new tag team partner Eddie Edwards and it was being set up for the two to meet at this Sunday’s IMPACT Rebellion PPV from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With Drake’s release, the match was replaced by a 6-man tag team match featuring Moose and The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) vs. The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel).

Eli Drake has been surprisingly quiet since the announcement of his release but on Saturday he posted a Tweet that he had a plane ticket purchased from his home in Los Angeles to Toronto.

To make things even more interesting, he posted another Tweet later on Saturday night, a highlight reel with the comments “Ain’t going nowhere, he’s taking over!”

Could the release simply have been a work to start a new storyline with Eli Drake or is he simply working the fans for something else?
