When it was announced that British Strong Style, the UK faction featuring NXT UK stars Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, was facing off against one of Ireland’s top groups, Kings of the North (Bonesaw, Damien Dorvin & Dunkan Disorderly) in a “Loser Leaves OTT” match at Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling‘s ScrapperMania 5 card on Saturday, many thought they saw the finish coming a mile away. After all, with NXT UK’s UK indie stars now being reeled in on a tighter leash on the UK and Ireland indies, many assumed that the three biggest NXT UK stars were simply finishing out their obligations with OTT and would be doing more of a farewell match. Especially considering that the OTT Tag Team titles were on the line.
In OTT, the tag belts are routinely held by stables or trios and defended with Freebird rules. This was merely to be a proper sendoff from OTT and the fans to British Strong Style as they move on to their WWE Universe future endeavours. Well, somewhere on the road to the National Stadium in Dublin, things took a huge detour. And to the shock of the sold-out attendance, Ireland’s Kings of the North lost their OTT Tag Team championship belts, as well as their careers in Ireland’s premier indie promotion.
