London, England’s Revolution Pro (RevPro) returns to PPV this Friday with High Stakes from the legendary York Hall, featuring an international dream match featuring two of the best high flyers the UK has produced ever.
MK McKinnan vs. Chris Ridgeway
An 11-year pro who made his name in Fight Club: PRO as one of it’s most dominant champions ever (with two reigns, 266 and 427 days respectively), MK McKinnan made his RevPro debut last September. He was on an impressive winning streak over the likes of Mark Haskins and Mike “Speedball” Bailey in RevPro until he ran into New Japan Young Lion Great-O-Kharn, who is on his NJPW excursion to the UK, losing to Kharn at a Live Event in December. Unfortunately, the scheduled rematch for Friday has been pulled due to O-Kharn not being able to compete, but McKinnan still has a fight on his hands. RevPro announced his replacement
Josh Bodom vs. Angelico
Josh Bodom is one of the UK indie scene’s underrated talents and a former 3x RevPro Undisputed British Cruiserweight Champion since he made his RevPro debut in 2012. He’s also a regular with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), where he just had a 447-day reign as the UPW Heavyweight Champion. In what should be an extremely athletic showcase, he’s facing South African superstar Angelico, best known to many for his work with AAA and Lucha Underground. He relocated to Europe in the past year and has become more prolific in the European indie scenes.
RevPro Women’s Championship: Zoe Lucas (c) vs. Bea Priestley
This past December, Zoe Lucas dethroned Jamie Hayter as the RevPro Women’s Champion and at New Year’s Resolution in January, she defended against joshi sensation Yuu. Lucas has come a long way in only four years, including several tours of Stardom in Japan, but she’s now facing one of the UK scene’s top international stars. Originally slated to face Scottish superstar Sammii Jayne, Sammii had to pull out due to a recent injury. But in her place, Zoe Lucas now finds herself facing former Defiant and World of Sport Women’s Champion Bea Priestley, who is returning from another tour of Stardom herself to fight for the RevPro title.
Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) vs. Team White Wolf (Carlos Romo & A-Kid)
An international showdown as one of the top tag teams on the US indie scene faces Spain’s best in an exciting matchup. The Besties have been tagging together since 2011 and in that time have become 2x All American Wrestling (AAW) Tag Team Champions, 2x Wrestling Revolver Tag champs, 2x (and reigning) Glory Pro Tag champs, finally breaking into the UK scene last year. They face two of the best wrestlers to emerge from the Spanish indie scene in Team White Wolf. Two incredible individual wrestlers with White Wolf Wrestling in Spain, the duo has been working around the UK and the rest of the world, representing Triple W and making themselves one of the top teams to watch in 2019.
El Phantasmo vs. MJF
Two imports who have done remarkably well in the UK indie scene face off in an international showdown, as a Canadian and American do battle in the UK. El Phantasmo is the reigning 3x Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) Champion who had a breakout year in the UK in 2018, reaching the finals of the Defiant Ringmaster tournament and winning RevPro’s British J Cup against New Japan, Ring of Honor and UK stars. MJF is on top of the world, working with both All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Major League Wrestling (MLW) in the US, as well as a wealth of other international indies, and will be looking to slow down the Canadian high flyer’s momentum.
Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) vs CCK (Chris Brookes & Jonathan Gresham)
The Australian duo of Fletcher and Davis – better known as Aussie Open – have become one of the top tag teams in the UK the past year, as the reigning 2x ATTACK Tag Team Champions and 2x Defiant Tag Team Champions. Aussie Open lost a chance to add the RevPro tag titles last year at RevPro Uprising to Suzuki-gun‘s Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr., but since then, they’re on a six match win streak against the likes of Ringkampf (WALTER & Timothy Thatcher), Team Whitewolf (Carlos Romo & A-Kid) twice and The Hunter Brothers (Jim & Lee Hunter). Their next obstacles are no slouches, as the original Calamari Catch Kings of Chris Brookes & Jonathan Gresham look to get themselves back in the title hunt, who have some big wins of their own against Ringkampf, Whitewolf and the tandem of El Phantasmo & Jushin Thunder Liger. These two faced each other a few times in the past few months, with Aussie Open winning both encounters, first at RevPro Summer Sizzler in August, then again last December in Defiant for the titles.
Will Ospreay vs. PAC
When PAC walked out of the WWE in 2017, the Wrestler Formerly Named Neville suddenly became a dream opponent for many wrestlers around the globe. One of the first to ask for a matchup was New Japan NEVER Openweight Champion Will Ospreay. When PAC signed with the WWE in 2012, Ospreay was just getting his feet wet and never got to face the UK indie legend. But now that PAC is free to roam, Ospreay has finally got his chance to face one of his childhood idols in a dream match for the ages.
