Indiana’s Black Label Pro – the Indy indie – has emerged as one of the top new promotions in the Midwest territory, utilizing many national indie stars in a smooth mix of matchups with local and regional talents from the Midwest, Mid Atlantic, and Southern regions. This Saturday, they return with BLP Unplugged, a unique showcase they’re holding in a smaller venue than normal (only 200 seats available) and introducing several BLP debuts and new talents.
O’Shay Edwards vs. Tyler Matrix
A protege of Johnny Swinger and Robert Gibson, O’Shay Edwards is a powerhouse who has only been wrestling since 2015. He looks to make a name for himself on Saturday against Alabama’s Tyler Matrix, a product of Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) who is also emerging as a new star on the indie scene.
Logan James vs. AJ Gray
Kentucky’s Logan James is another OVW prospect who has been breaking out in the past year, working with IWA Mid South, Canada’s Alpha-1, Rockstar Pro and even working a dark match at IMPACT Wrestling‘s recent tapings in Nashville. He faces another rising star in Glory Pro and Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) star AJ Gray, who’s also the reigning Paradigm Pro Wrestling (PPW) Champion, also based out of Indiana.
Savanna Stone vs. Allie Kat
Two of the new faces of women’s wrestling in the US indies collide! Still a teenager, Savanna Stone has been turning heads in IWA Mid South, RISE, AAW and others the past year, including an appearance on Monday Night Raw against Nia Jax. Allie Kat has emerged from the Texas indies she started out in, like Anarchy Championship Wrestling (ACW) and Inspire Pro, and is now being featured more regularly elsewhere, like AAW, AIW, NOVA Pro, IWA Mid South and more.
Boomer Hatfield, Cabana Man Dan & Jake Lander vs. Donovan Danhausen, Callux & A Still Life with Apricots and Pears
A big 6-man tag match featuring a mix of indie veterans and emerging stars, with the first team lead by one of CHIKARA‘s new stars, Boomer Hatfield. Boomer’s squad features 15-year pro Cabana Man Dan, who works primarily out of Alabama’s Pro South Wrestling (PSW), and another IWA Mid South rising star in Jake Lander. The other squad is lead by Detroit’s Donovan Danhausen, a new star with AIW who has also worked for Southern Underground Pro (SUP), Glory Pro, All American Wrestling (AAW) and more. Danhausen is joined by two stars from CHIKARA, in rookie Callux the Castigator of the Proteus Wheel faction and A Still Life With Apricots & Pears, the protege of BLANK.
Rory Gulak vs. Daniel Makabe
An exciting matchup featuring master technician Rory Gulak, the brother of WWE Superstar Drew Gulak, and a regular with CHIKARA, Beyond Wrestling, and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). The 10-year veteran faces one of Canada’s emerging indie stars in Daniel Makabe. Makabe, a regular with Seattle’s 3-2-1 BATTLE! is looking to expand his national resume, and taking out Gulak would be a good start.
Gary Jay vs. Tyler Bateman
A battle of two hardened indie veterans, as Southern veteran Gary Jay faces West Coast veteran Tyler Bateman in what’s sure to be a clinic. St. Louis’ Gary Jay has been one of the leaders of the resurgence of Southern wrestling, working with St. Louis Anarchy, SUP, Pro Wrestling Freedom (PWF) and more, as well as Midwest indies like Glory Pro, AIW and more. Tyler Bateman is finally breaking out after years in the West Coast scene, with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Bar Wrestling, IWA Mid South and DEFY.
Kris Stadtlander vs. Bear Bronson
Kris Stadtlander has emerged as one of the top women’s wrestlers in the last year, coming out of Create-A-Pro Wrestling under Pat Buck and appearing for Beyond Wrestling, Limitless, Women’s Wrestling Revolution, and CZW. No stranger to intergender wrestling, she faces another CAP graduate in 23-year old Bear Bronson, who is breaking out himself with Wrestling Has A Tomorrow (WHAT), Limitless and Massachusetts’ Chaotic Wrestling.
Sadkampf (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) vs. The Work Horsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)
Sadkampf is another team breaking out of the Southern scene, as former EVOLVE wrestler (and member of Catch Point) Dominic Garrini pairs up with Kevin Ku in a matchup with one of the indie scene’s most underrated tandems. The Work Horsemen of JD Drake and Anthony Henry have proven to not only be one of the most solid duos in the US indies, winning the Full Impact Pro and EVOLVE Tag Team titles but as singles too – Drake is the reigning WWN Champion, while Henry holds the FIP World Championship. Should be an exciting tag team contest.
BLP Indiana State Championship: Kobe Durst (c) vs. “Warhorse” Jake Parnell
At last year’s BLP Darkest Timeline Tournament, Toronto’s Kobe Durst won the inaugural BLP Indiana State Championship, defending it in November against Rory Gulak. The reigning and 3x Alpha-1 Alpha Male Champion is putting it on the line again, this time against another rising US indie star in “Warhorse” Jake Parnell, who has emerged from his Viking War Party tag team as one of the top prospects to break out in 2019.
Ethan Page & Brett Michael David (BMD) vs. Josh Abercrombie & Anthony Greene
The reigning BLP Heavyweight Champion, IMPACT Wrestling‘s Ethan Page, is bringing in some backup for his tag match at Unplugged. The owner of Alpha-1 in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario is bringing in another Alpha-1 star in BMD as he faces the tag team of Josh Abercrombie & Anthony Greene. Abercrombie is a veteran from Kalamazoo, Michigan whose made a name for himself in IWA Mid South, AAW, as well as Detroit’s Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling (XICW), where he’s a former 3x XICW Light Heavyweight Champion, 2x AAW Tag Team Champion, IWA Mid South Light Heavyweight Champion and IWA Mid South Tag Team Champion. He’s also a former Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) Tag Team Champion out of Germany, winning gold with current wXw World Champion Absolute Andy. His tag partner is 25-year old Anthony Greene, who has been wrestling since he was 19 years old, and who is finally breaking out of the Northeast circuit as a face to watch in 2019, working with Beyond, Limitless, CHIKARA, Alpha-1 and more.
