Originally reported last week, All Elite Wrestling made it official today, announcing the signing of 21-year old Jungle Boy, a rising star in the West Coast independent scene. It was unveiled during the debut episode of The Road to Double or Nothing web series on Cody Rhodes‘ YouTube Channel.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Jungle Boy, who was originally more known for his famous father (former 90210 star Luke Perry) than he was for wrestling. He started with Underground Empire Wrestling (UEW) in 2015, a small local indie in Los Angeles, before moving up to the Bay area’s All Pro Wrestling (APW) the following year. But in 2018, everything changed.
He made his debut with Championship Wrestling From Hollywood in August, but it was his debut for Joey Janela’s LA Confidential, presented by Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), that exposed him to a national audience via PPV. And much like Marko Stunt‘s stock exploded on the national indie scene after his appearance at Janela’s Lost in New York earlier that summer, Jungle Boy became a hot commodity. He’s continued to work with GCW on the East Coast, and soon debuted with Bar Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), the latter just last week at PWG Hand of Doom against Brody King. And now he’s the newest member of AEW.
