LAX Longest Reigning IMPACT Tag Team Champions

Over the past week, the duo of Santana and Ortiz, collectively known as LAX, became the longest reigning IMPACT Tag Team Champions in the company’s history, passing Beer Money Inc. (Bobby Roode & “Cowboy” James Storm)’s 212-day reign set in 2011. The 3x IMPACT Tag Team Champions had previously surpassed Beer Money Inc. as the longest combined reigning IMPACT Tag Team Champions in late October, when they passed Beer Money Inc’s combined reign of 514 days (LAX sits at 553 days and counting).

Santana & Ortiz only joined IMPACT Wrestling last year following the purchase of IMPACT by Anthem, but the duo have been mainstays in the independent scene together since 2011, where they’re better known as EYFBO (Entertain Your F**king Balls Off!), competing with the likes of Beyond Wrestling, House of Glory (HOG), Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and many others. LAX is currently in the midst of their third reign as IMPACT Tag Team Champions.

At 220+ days and counting as IMPACT Tag Champions, LAX are now ahead of some top teams in IMPACT/TNA history. After them, the next five longest reigns are:

  • Beer Money Inc. (Bobby Roode & “Cowboy” James Storm), 212 days, January 9, 2011 to August 9, 2011
  • Decay (Crazzy Steve & Abyss), 197 days, March 19, 2016 to October 2, 2016
  • American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards), 186 days, July 29, 2015 to January 31, 2016
  • Christian’s Coalition (AJ Styles & Tyson Tomko), 184 days, October 14, 2007 to April 5, 2008
  • Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin), July 11, 2010 to January 9, 2011

LAX are still 30 days behind the longest tag team title reign in IMPACT’s history, set at 250 days, by America’s Most Wanted (“Wildcat” Chris Harris & “Cowboy” James Storm), who held the NWA World Tag Team Championships from 2005 to 2006, but LAX is the longest combined reigning tag team champions in IMPACT/TNA history, as they’ve also surpassed America’s Most Wanted’s combined 517 days (over six reigns) with the current 553+ combined days as champions. LAX’s next big title defense comes January 6 at IMPACT Homecoming, against The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix).
