Mike Santana became TNA world Champion again

Titles Change Hands at Thursday Night iMPACT Premiere on AMC

Two title matches were scheduled for the premiere on Thursday Night iMPACT on AMC. Both titles changed hands as The Elegance Brand and Mike Santana regained the TNA Knockouts Tag Team title and TNA World Championship. When Santana fought to win, the Elegance Brand, as always, cheated.

A Non-Elegant Win

The TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Titles were on the line as The IInspiration defended against The Elegance Brand. NXT’s Sol Ruca and Zaria were seen watching from backstage. Before the match, the Elegance Brand was joined by Perez Hilton as they unveiled Mr. Elegance to the world.

Jessie McKay brought the fight to Heather and M by Elegance. The Personal Concierge pulled McKay off the pin. Cassie Lee pushed Heather off the top, sending her crashing to the floor. The IInspiration went for the IIdolizer, but Mr. Elegance got involved. M rolled up Cassie to steal the victory.

Mike Santana regained, but the rematch is already set

Mike Santana challenged Frankie Kazarian for the TNA World Championship. Both competitors countered each other’s finishers to start. Santana leapt over the top rope, taking out Kazarian on the floor. Santana continued the aerial assault with a springboard crossbody to the outside. Kazarian turned the tide with his signature leg drop.

Kazarian countered the Rolling Buck 50 into a Backstabber. Minutes later, Santana successfully hit the Rolling Buck 50, then picked Kazarian off the top with a Spanish Fly. Santana almost put him away with the Code Red. Kazarian hit the Slingshot Cutter, followed by another leg drop for two.

Kazarian inadvertently collided with the referee. Santana had Kazarian beat following Spin the Block, but there was no referee to make the count. Kazarian smashed the title between Santana’s eyes, then hit Fade to Black on the apron. Santana kicked out at two, then connected with another Spin the Block. Santana hit one final Spin the Block to become the new TNA World Champion.

According to Tom Hannifan, the TNA Genesis match between Santana and Kazarian will happen. This time, Santana will be the Champion and Kazarian will be the challenger. Nic Nemeth also promised to call his shot this Saturday. The fate of the TNA World Championship is not set in stone yet.
