Report: WWE Planning Big Re-Debut for Chris Jericho in 2026

As we enter 2026, lots or rumors have been going around about big returns in the new year. One of the most popular names to come up has been, Chris Jericho. The more we hear about it, the more this rumor seems to be possible. Former WWE employee, Jonathan Coachman discussed this return of Jericho on Twitter.

Jericho’s contract with AEW expired at the very end of 2025, and there hasn’t been any reports of him resigning. Is it time for Jericho to return to his roots and go back to the WWE?

Jonathan Coachman Twitter

Former WWE interviewer/commentator, Jonathan Coachman took to Twitter to expose the plans that WWE has for Chris Jericho. It is unknown where he may have acquired this information considering he isn’t involved with the company anymore.

Coachman states that WWE plans to make Jericho their new large attraction. He is a returning legend that has incredible promo and character skills, which will be featured frequently.

Now when is this said return set to take place? Many were thinking that he will return on next week’s Monday Night Raw. It is set to be a large show as it is the first Monday Night Raw of the New Year, along with marking a year of WWE on Netflix. But Jonathan Coachman says that WWE has other plans.

Royal Rumble Return

In Coachman’s tweet he stated that Jericho will be returning at the Royal Rumble PLE. The Rumble is a night full of returns and surprises, will Y2J be one of them this year?

The last Royal Rumble match that Jericho competed in was in 2017, which is surprisingly almost 10 years ago. He then competed in the Greatest Royal Rumble Match in Saudi Arabia in 2018. He was entrant number 10 and 11 in these two matches, will Jericho be the number 30 spot that everyone looks forward to this year?

Chris Jericho WWE Future

2018 was the last year the Jericho had appeared in the WWE. Since then there has been a lot of new talent that has come to the main roster, meaning many new opponents for Jericho.

According to Jonathan Coachman,

“He will be a special attraction similar to how they use Roman and Brock only he will be more visible in an on air role due to his ability to cut promos and sway the audience.”

While he may not get in the ring as frequently as we hoped, we will be hearing from Jericho and he will be involved in stories frequently it seems. Despite being in the wrestling business for 35 years and being 55 years old, Jericho is still in some of his best shape.

Chris Jericho clearly has a love and dedication for professional wrestling. If the rumors are true, it will be exciting for him to bring that energy back to the WWE.
