Kiera Hogan: Making an Impact as New Knockout

She was one of Impact Wrestling‘s greatest mysteries for much of 2017. One of the indie circuit’s emerging women’s stars, Kiera Hogan was on a lot of people’s “watch lists” for potentially going on to bigger things, be it NXT, Women of Honor, or elsewhere. But last August it was Impact Wrestling that won the sweepstakes for “The Girl on Fire”, signing her at the same time as another top indie prospect Hania The Huntress (who made her debut at the Ottawa tapings last November and has already been released). But there was no sign of Kiera Hogan at all.

Shortly after Hogan’s signing, Impact creative director Jeff Jarrett went on a leave of absence (followed in September with Anthem parting ways with him all together) and a reshuffle of management taking place. It started to look like Kiera Hogan’s Impact status was on the verge of joining other earlier signings like Avie Storie (Brandi Lauren), MJ Jenkins and others, who would be jettisoned as Impact begun it’s reboot. But the first round of tapings under the co-executive committee featuring Scott D’Amore and Don Callis were quick to rectify the situation, using Hogan extensively at the last round of tapings, including working a program with Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness. She finally made her long awaited television debut last week, in a non-title match, scoring an upset victory. She’s now been announced at getting a shot at the Knockouts Championship next Thursday on Impact.

At 23 years old, Kiera Hogan is barely three years into her pro wrestling career, but “The First Lady of Atlanta” has been making waves nearly since her 2015 debut with World Wrestling Alliance 4 (WWA4). It wasn’t long before she was working with the likes of Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment (AWE), PWX and even the Hardy Boyz’ OMEGA in her rookie year, facing the likes of Heidi Lovelace (WWE’s Ruby Riott), Britt Baker, Karen Q and Santana Garrett.

In 2016, she caught the attention of some of the top women’s promotions in the US, debuting with SHIMMER, SHINE, WSU and Queens of Combat, not to mention WWE Hall of Famer Booker T‘s Reality of Wrestling (ROW). Her stock only rose as her fiery spirit and engaging personality won over fans around the country. In 2017, she won the WSU Spirit Championship, defeating Su Yung, which she still holds today at almost a year’s reign. It was during her rise to prominence on the women’s indie circuit that she signed with Impact in mid-August.

With the new era of Impact Wrestling bringing new hungry talent like Brian Cage, Johnny Impact, Sami Callihan and OvE, Taya Valkyrie, Ethan Page (aka Chandler Park) and more to freshen up the roster, Kiera Hogan looks to become another piece of the Impact Knockouts Division. And considering her debut, it looks like she’s here to set the entire division on fire.
