If you carefully read my preview of TNA iMPACT!, you now know if Nygma’s crystal ball was right or wrong. As we left El Paso for Saint Joseph, we took the road leading us to Unbreakable, on April 17 live from Las Vegas, and Rebellion, live on April 27.
Was I expecting we would drive that road at full speed? Not to this point. This week’s episode was full of every possible surprise.
For Better and Worse
Good Things
Did you really think The System would explode? April fool! Eddie Edwards acted on the ultimatum he gave The System last week – either get on board with his vision, or you’re out.
Eddie addressed each member individually: JDC, Brian Myers, and Alisha Edwards were in. When it was time for Moose to answer, Cody Deaner crashed the party.
Deaner looked to the people – and they wanted Moose out of The System. Moose clobbered Deaner with a right hand, and a united System beat him down.
I feel sad for my friend Cody Deaner, who didn’t deserve such a beatdown, but The System needed to send a message to the fans and the locker room. They are one, and they rule TNA.
.@TheMooseNation just laid out @CodyDeaner sending a clear message The System STILL works!

The NXT ladies were on fire this week, as both teams won their matches. The Meta Girls, Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson, defeated Spitfire, despite Legend inadvertently striking her own partner. I stick to my idea that the Knockouts Tag Team title is the first TNA title that could cross the line.
Later, Tessa Blanchard, NXT’s Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx (with Fallon Henley) defeated Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich, Xia Brookside, and Léi Ying Lee. Rosemary was watching Brookside.
Blanchard hit the Buzzsaw on Slamovich for the win, but Henley distracted the champion to give Blanchard this possibility. You would not be surprised if I told you the TNA Knockouts title match is set for Rebellion.
Tessa Blanchard just pinned the TNA Knockouts World Champion @mashaslamovich for the 2nd time!

Bad Things
The Hardys addressed Nic Nemeth’s shocking betrayal at Sacrifice and their upcoming TNA World Tag Team Title defense against Nic and Ryan Nemeth at Rebellion. Matt said the scar on his nose is a symbol that he is still ‘Broken’ and he will stop at nothing to ‘Delete’ Nic Nemeth. The Hardys were interrupted by The Great Hands, leading to an impromptu match where, if The Great Hands win, they will be first in line for a TNA World Tag Team Title shot.
And they lost. What were they expecting? To beat the men to become the men?
When the action in the ring was predictable, what happened backstage was not. Leon Slater confronted Ryan Nemeth, and they brawled to the point of being broken up by security. The Hardys vs Nemeth Bros match will be a stipulation one, it had to.
Not to be definitely “Broken.”
.@LEONSLATER_ wasn’t about to sit back and let @ryrynemnem talk trash about The Hardys!

Not only did Kazarian win his match against Elijah, but he attacked Joe Hendry at ringside. It was absolute chaos in the ring and at ringside, but more chaos is expected to happen as Joe Hendry is injured.
This is when I become suspicious. TNA Wrestling physician (please, Dr Ross, come back) announced a grade 3 severe sprain on the rotator cuff.
It’s not like a rotator cuff tear that would take Hendry off the rings for months, it’s a matter of a few weeks. Then, why is TNA announced that Hendry will defend at Rebellion? Allow me to be very suspicious.
Whether Hendry is really injured and the World Title fate could change in the coming weeks, or Hendry is selling the injury, which is not made to make me believe in him ever.
It didn’t take long for @FrankieKazarian to get in @JoeHendry’s face and cause absolute chaos in the iMPACT Zone! @_Iam_Elijah_

Moose Has 3 Problems (out of 5)
Moose accumulated the bad news last night. We learned last week that he is set to defend the TNA X-Division Championship at Rebellion in a six-man Ultimate-X match. This week, the names of three of his five opponents/challengers were announced, and it will not be a happy time.
The first is Leon Slater, the youngest wrestler to ever main-event a TNA PPV. The second is Matt Cardona, coming back to the Impact Zone after a few months away. And the third is, to me, one of the best Luchadores of our era – El Hijo del Vikingo.
Vikingo has wrestled in IMPACT/TNA many times over the last seven years, in Mexico or the USA. I don’t know who will be the last two participants, but Moose will need some help to retain, which is possible as the Ultimate-X Matches are considered no-disqualification.
.@vikingo_aaa is BACK!

An All-Ego Rebellion
Frankie Kazarian opened and ended the episode. Proud of his win on Elijah, he proudly announced that he is calling his shot for a TNA World Title match on April 27 at Rebellion. Usually, Call Your Shot winners don’t announce they are cashing in; they surprise their opponents (think Moose and Josh Alexander at Bound For Glory 2021).
The surprise came from one of my favorite guys in this business, Ethan Page. He is a great wrestler but an even better entertainer (try to find his match against himself at Hard to Kill 2021, an awesome bout). He left TNA in 2021, but yesterday, he crossed the line into TNA for the first time since he became an NXT guy.
Page revealed he talked to Director of Authority Santino Marella, and he will be challenging Joe Hendry for the TNA World Title at Rebellion. Kazarian was irate and tried to attack Page. Page ducked as Kazarian retreated.
Santino Marella confirmed later that the match would be a triple threat bout.
#WWENXT’s @OfficialEGO signed the dotted line for #TNARebellion!

The Best of The Rest
- Mustafa Ali attacked Santana’s crew-worker friend, Derek, who was trying to be given a spot. Santana’s past addictions were on the menu, again and again… Santana was furious.
- Ash By Elegance may be on vacation but Heather By Elegance and The Personal Concierge will mentor TNA newcomer Maggie Lee in the meantime. Poor girl…
.@IamGeorgeIceman has his eye on TNA newcomer @justmaggielee but does she have what it takes to be truly “Elegant”? @Heathereckless

The Nygma’s Last Word(s)
It was one hell of an episode, my friends. With many match announcements, a title out, a new title in, new feuds, Ethan Page coming back, and some appealing PPV events coming, we can say the future is bright for TNA.
Even if Santino Marella, once again, made miracles, Ethan Page stole the show in less than 5 minutes. May TNA continue this way, as writing on funny, epic, and surprising episodes is a Nygma treat.
The Nutcracking spirit that has been my signature for many years now makes me say to you, don’t fall in the apples too fast (French way to say not to faint), that’s just a Nygma point of view.
I threw @ManceWarner off the stage so hard tonight, that rings popped out of him like he was Sonic the Hedgehog.#TNAiMPACT pic.twitter.com/cjW2iUQSxQ
