Hikaru Shida vs. Emi Sakura
Hikaru Shida looks to build momentum ahead of her fatal four-way match for the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship. Before she challenges for that title, she must defend her Regina Di WAVE Championship against Emi Sakura.
Usually, momentum would favor Sakura right now as she and partner Maki Itoh picked up a win over Shida and her partner Skye Blue in a tag team match last week. However, Shida holds a recent singles win over Sakura, defeating her on a special Thursday night Elevation earlier this month.
That being said, Sakura will have a different level of motivation coming into this match-up as this will be the first time she has challenged for a title since facing Riho for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear in November of 2019! While not an AEW title, the Regina Di WAVE Title is very prestigious, having been held by the likes of Ryo Mizunami and Ayako Hamada.
There’s no doubt how much capturing this belt will mean to Sakura, but Shida will be hungry for the momentum. I’m not going to pick a winner in this match-up as both women have an equal chance. Nevertheless, this will be a great collision of motivated athletes, so tune in!
