Injured AEW Wrestler Teases AEW Dynasty Return

In a recent interview, Kyle O’Reilly, while promoting AEW Dynasty this Sunday, discussed a range of topics. The AEW wrestler opened up about growing up loving wrestling and the sacrifices that he made for his career. Yet the one thing that will interest fans, besides The Violent Artist’s discussion of becoming a pro wrestler to tapping out Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear, is O’Reilly’s teased return.

I really want to be ready in time for the Vancouver pay-per-view, which is Dynasty, coming up this weekend from Rogers Arena. So wink wink, nudge nudge, maybe I’ll be back in time for that.” Transcript for WrestlePurist.

Side-lined, reportedly, with a neck injury, O’Reilly was unable to compete in last year’s AEW Continental Classic. Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live claimed that the injury differed from O’Reilly’s previous neck injury. There was also speculation that O’Reilly may have broken his arm. Post-match, a doctor checked this after a vicious post-match assault by Moxley. Officially, details of the injury were not made public. O’Reilly confirmed himself later to be suffering from a bulging neck disc injury and arm fracture, which sidelined him from in-ring action.

O’Reilly made a brief cameo during the Continental Classic, where he had a pep talk with Roderick Strong.

“If you knew how close I was to giving up in those matches with Jon [Moxley], you’d be looking at me the same way I’m looking at you right now.”

O’Reilly’s words inspired Strong to go on to defeat Claudio Castagnoli, costing the Swiss Superman a place in the semi-finals. If O’Reilly does return in his hometown, it’s possible the Violent Artist said may have fans waiting for a surprise return during the Casino Gauntlet match to crown a new TNT Champion. Afterwards, does O’Reilly look for revenge against Jon Moxley? How might this impact Roderick Strong’s new tag partnership with Orange Cassidy? We’ll see on Sunday if the tease pays off.

AEW Dynasty 2026 will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
