Legendary tag team The Hardy Boyz are eyeing a ‘generational dream match’ at WrestleMania 42 now that The Usos have regained the World Tag Team Championships.
The Usos won the tag titles for the first time since losing them at WrestleMania in 2023 on WWE Raw this week. The Usos are the longest-reigning tag team champions in WWE history. This is based on the cumulative days they have held the titles.
The Usos’ previous tag titles reign included a 316-day Raw reign and their record 622-day SmackDown reign. This reign saw them surpass The New Day, who had previously held the record.
Generational Dream Match
Matt Hardy took to social media to congratulate The Usos on returning to the top of the tag team division. Hardy also chose to challenge The Usos to a match for these new titles at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas in April.
But Hardy didn’t stop at fantasy booking a standard tag team contest. Hardy has brought The New Day into the mix for this dream match.
The Hardy Boyz vs. The Usos vs. The New Day is the match he claims would be a ‘generational dream match’. It is hard to argue with Hardy.
In October 2025, The Hardy Boyz defended both the NXT and TNA tag team titles against their fiercest rivals, The Dudley Boyz. The Hardys came out on top in this contest to prove they were the greatest of their generation.
The Hardys are currently in their 4th reign as TNA World Tag Team Champions. The current working relationship between WWE and TNA means a cross-promotion match at WrestleMania 42 is a huge possibility.
WWE Raw will include a crossover promotion with Stranger Things as part of its Netflix anniversary show next Monday.
