If there’s someone who’s deserving of an NXT call-up immediately, it’s Je’Von Evans. He has put on impressive showing after impressive showing. Many fans rightfully agree that it is past time for him to be on Raw or SmackDown. He’s done everything that needs to be done, except for winning an NXT Championship. However, many wrestlers have been called up without winning the top title as a singles competitor.
He has been on the main roster, television, and AAA numerous times over the past couple of months. The December 22, 2025, episode of Monday Night Raw was another chance to show everyone what he can do. Did he walk away with another impressive victory, or would Rayo Americano spoil his party with a victory of his own?
Evans Easily Takes Care of Rayo
Many people assumed right from the start that this match would be an easy victory for Evans. However, given his opponent, that wouldn’t necessarily be the case. Rayo is never alone when he is in the ring. His tag team partner, Bravo, is always ready to defend him. The leader of the group, El Grande Americano, is also around to help him out. Together, the one-on-one match is technically a three-on-one match.
Would Evans find a way to take on this challenge and come out with the victory? The match started, and right away something was noticeable. Surrounding the ring were Bravo and El Grande, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Evans didn’t care, as he leapt off the top rope onto Rayo anyway. El Grande didn’t like that, as he distracted the referee.
Rayo then grabbed Evans and, along with Bravo, hit him in the private area and shoved him to the ground. Applying a Michinoku Driver, a clearly in pain Evans kicked out. What just happened was a motivator for him, as he started wailing away at Rayo afterwards. Things were looking up until his Springboard Cutter made contact with Rayo’s arm as he punched it.
It looked like that was going to be a costly mistake, but then he avoided Rayo’s moonsault. Countering it with a regular cutter, he pinned Rayo and got the much-anticipated victory. However, he didn’t get a lot of time to celebrate. Bravo and El Grande rushed the ring in order to avenge Rayo’s defeat.

But with Evans being himself, he masterfully dodged any attempts to take him down. It was announced during the show that he was a free agent and eligible to sign with either Raw or SmackDown. When the time comes, the main roster will be getting an amazing wrestler.
