WWE is reportedly already locking down its headlining matches, even though WrestleMania 42 is still more than five months away. Survivor Series: WarGames created major storyline shifts and sparked instant speculation about how the company plans to book the next major event in Las Vegas in 2026.
WarGames Prepares the Stage
Survivor Series: WarGames ended with the babyfaces in chaos after a mysterious hooded figure appeared and shifted the momentum in favor of the heels. Bron Breakker took advantage of the moment, speared CM Punk, and scored the pinfall.
The post-match segment hinted at an upcoming buildup, especially between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, pointing toward a future confrontation. Their interaction could set the stage for a major WrestleMania storyline.
Potential Showdowns at WrestleMania 42
Backstage rumors suggest that WWE plans to move forward with Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns at the next WrestleMania. This match would be their third meeting on the biggest stage within four years and would likely determine the final outcome of their rivalry.
In addition, the match-ending pinfall of Bron Breakker over CM Punk has reportedly positioned him as the next challenger for the World Heavyweight Title. The finish was designed to place Breakker in the title picture through standard booking logic by having him defeat the current champion to earn a future title shot.
Establishing a Creative Foundation Early
Although plans may still change before April 2026, the early preparations for the main events of WrestleMania 42 appear solid. Triple H and the creative team have set clear narrative directions coming out of Survivor Series, building the foundation for the marquee matches on both nights in Las Vegas on April 18 and 19, 2026.
