Preview: WWE Raw (7/29/24) - SummerSlam Go-Home Show

It’s officially summer! The schools are out, the Olympics have begun and there’s no finer time to share that gif of Millhouse pretending to be a sprinkler in The Simpsons.

It is also WWE SummerSlam this weekend. But, before we get to Cleveland for the “Biggest Party of the Summer”, WWE Raw comes to St. Paul, MN.

Due to the Paris Olympics airing on the USA Network, WWE Raw will air on Syfy at 8/7c for the next two weeks. Read our full preview below.

WWE Raw Match Card (7/29/24)

  • Referee Instructions Ahead of CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre w/ Special Referee Seth Rollins
  • Finn Balor vs. Gunther
  • Xavier Woods vs. Karrion Kross
  • Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark vs. Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance

Seth Rollins To Give Referee Instructions

Seth Rollins will give CM Punk and Drew McIntyre instructions for things not to do at SummerSlam. This will set up for them to definitely do those naughty things at SummerSlam.

Listen out for spoilers for the CM Punk vs. McIntyre w/ special referee Rollins match at SummerSlam.  Rollins: “I want a good clean fight, no pulling of the hair, and respect the official.”

Cue: Bad and dirty fight, lots of pulling of the hair, and sly remarks – probably about clothing – leading to shoves and slaps for Referee Rollins. Punk and McIntyre has been the storyline of the year and this section of WWE Raw will provide the chance to add even more intrigue ahead of what could go down as a modern-day SummerSlam classic.

Bálor To Slap Gunther Silly Ahead of SummerSlam

Before Gunther challenges Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, “The Ring General” faces Priest’s buddy Finn Bálor on WWE Raw. Gunther has been scathing of “The Judgement Day” branding them as ‘street trash’.

Priest did spend a portion of his life living on the streets. So Gunther has a point. But Bálor grew up in the gorgeous seaside town of Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland.

Bálor will look to slap some sense into Gunther. Priest will hope Bálor slaps him silly ahead of SummerSlam.

Rest of the Match Card

Karrion Kross just wants what is best for Xavier Woods. He injured Kofi Kingston to help him stand on his own.

But Woods brought in Otis and Tozawa for a six-man match last week against Kross’s “The Final Testament”. Kross beat Woods. This week, Woods will have to stand alone when the two men meet one-on-one on Syfy.

Sonya Deville will lead Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark in a six-women tag team match against Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter, and Katana Chance. Deville beat Valkyria last week, but Stark lost to Zelena Vega thanks to interference from the three ladies they face this week.

There are a couple of things that haven’t been announced we can look out for. We could see Chad Gable’s former besties Otis and Tozawa take on his new backup The Creed Brothers after they assaulted them last week.

Bronson Reed, Sheamus, and Pete Dunne are on a collision course for a triple threat at some point. If they still did matches on SummerSlam preview shows, this would be a great banger for Saturday.

Expect it on WWE Raw this week, or next!
