Australian WWE fans popped loudly twice during the Elimination Chamber Perth press event. Once, when Aussie superstar Indi Hartwell was handed a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship shot. Then again, when Rhea Ripley and Grayson Waller did a ‘shoey’.
“The Kabuki Warriors” Asuka and Kairi Sane will defend their Women’s Tag Team Championship against “The Way” Hartwell and Candice LeRae on the Elimination Chamber Kickoff show.
Hartwell failed to secure a place on the first PLE to emanate from her home country. She was eliminated from the last chance battle royal on Raw, last week. This caused her to miss out on entering the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. But as far as making the card on Elimination Chamber, Indi Hartwell’s journey wasn’t over on Monday night.
Elimination Chamber: Aussie Indi Hartwell’s Journey Home
Hartwell began her wrestling career in her home promotion Melbourne City Wrestling in 2016. During her early years in MCW, she wrestled stars such as Tenille Dashwood, Brandi Rhodes, Deonna Purrazzo, Steph De Lander and Blair Devenport.
She won the Adelaide-based Riot City Wrestling Women’s Championship in 2018. She held this title for 343 days. She also became the World Series Wrestling Women’s Champion in 2019.
Clearly one of the brightest stars in Australia in 2019, the WWE came calling. She debuted in NXT at the start of 2020.
Hartwell won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship with Candice LeRae in 2021. She also performed many memorable onscreen moments with Dexter Lumis. Hartwell even proposed to Lumis. She won the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT: Stand & Deliver in 2023 in a six-person ladder match.
She successfully defended the title at NXT Spring Breakin’ 2023 against Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton.
Hartwell relinquished the NXT Women’s Championship when she was drafted to the Raw brand in May 2023. Hartwell and her American partner LeRae will get a hometown, heroes welcome during the Elimination Chamber Kickoff which will help hype up the crowd at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
