Predictions and Preview; AEW All In (8/27/23)

Normally, I would write an introduction meant to help whoever reads this get more hyped for the awesome show we’re going to witness. I want to use this to talk about how poetic the return of All In truly is. When the original All In was just a concept that Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks had to prove Dave Meltzer wrong, that an independent show outside of WWE could sell 10,000 tickets. Fast forward five years, in that time, that one “indie show” spawned the first genuine mainstream alternative to WWE since they bought their competition. Not only that, but they have done something even their most diehard fans, myself included, were doubting they could do. They have set the record for paid attendance for a wrestling promotion. Regardless of preference, what AEW has accomplished from day one is nothing short of remarkable, and as a fan who was there on day one at the Jacksonville press conference, it’s a joy to see their success. Now join me as we dive in and look at this historic show! The show starts at 1 pm Eastern Time and is available on BR Live in the United States, along with FITE and DAZN internationally.

“Real World Championship” is on the line

CM Punk and Samoa Joe, two of the original faces of Ring of Honor, two men who have battled each other in some of the greatest matches this business has seen, and they get to finish it in Wembley. It’s unbelievable that two men who, at one point in time, many wondered how successful they would be given the “don’t fit the mold” of what a wrestler “should be.”

Punk and Joe will be motivated to add another classic to their series, but not in the same vein. I expect them to tell a great story between the ropes, befitting of the grand stage they are on. One that sees Punk walk away with the win.

Prediction: CM Punk

FTR vs.The Young Bucks III

There was brief uncertainty if we would see these men, who have given their careers to raise the banner for tag team wrestling, meet on a stage befitting of their impact. Now we know we will witness the rubber match between FTR and The Young Bucks.

Regardless of the outcome of this match, we know we’re going to get a stellar showcase that will probably somehow get ten stars out of five. Jokes aside, this might be the match I’m personally looking forward to the most on the show. I’d be fine with either team walking out with the win, but I will take the Bucks here.

Prediction: Young Bucks

Better Than You Bay Bay Battle in Wembley: AEW All In Main Event

This is the match I’m looking forward to the least. Not because I think it won’t be good, but strictly because I’ve loved seeing these two paired together. I avoid thinking about the inevitable breakup/betrayal, and now it seems the sun may be setting on the surprise friendship of the summer.

Many signs point to Adam Cole betraying MJF, but MJF is called “The Devil” for a reason. There are many possibilities for how this could play out, but almost all involve Roderick Strong and The Kingdom showing their faces ringside. I will stop speculating and prepare myself to enjoy the show!
