Another work week is almost at an end, meaning that FOX and WWE‘s Friday Night SmackDown is here once more with a show based around the fallout from Elimination Chamber. Last Saturday, we saw an interesting Elimination Chamber PLE (premium live event) which set the stage for WrestleMania 39. As we all know, the SmackDown based storyline of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline has dominated programming for years now, and it feels as though we are now finally approaching something resembling an end game coming out of Elimination Chamber. What does it all mean for tonight’s show? Read on to find out!
Firefly Funhouse Returns to SmackDown
Just a few short weeks ago, following the Lights Out victory over LA Knight at Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt & Uncle Howdy laid the SmackDown on Hit Row and then proceeded to issue an open challenge to the victor of Bobby Lashley & Brock Lesnar. Of course, Lesnar was never going to allow his legitimacy to come into question in a feud with Bray Wyatt, so Lashley is the unlucky victim for Wyatt & Howdy after his victory over Lesnar at Elimination Chamber. Tonight’s SmackDown will witness the return of the Firefly Funhouse and we can be sure that Wyatt will address his next feud here.
Rematch: Rey Mysterio Vs. Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross came up short against the masked legend a few weeks ago, and tonight, he will have a second opportunity to take down Rey Mysterio. Additionally, Rey’s crime-obsessed son, Dominik Mysterio (he’s seen things, man), will be there to watch the match in person – meaning we can be sure of some kind of shenanigans taking place during this match. Kross has been floundering for some time and could use the win, so for his sake, let’s hope Dominik is there to do more than just watch this match.
Imperium Vs. Braun Strowman, Ricochet & Madcap Moss
There’s not many in professional wrestling right now riding a wave of momentum quite like Gunther‘s. The man broke all the longevity based records in the Royal Rumble match this year, and now he’s turning up to SmackDown tonight to chop Braun Strowman‘s chest off of his chest. This six-man tag team match has arisen out of Strowman & Ricochet‘s failed SmackDown Tag Team Championship challenge and Madcap Moss‘ own failed challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship last week. Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci look to maintain their dominance on SmackDown tonight.
Charlotte Flair Meets Rhea Ripley Ahead of WrestleMania 39 Match
Just a few short years ago, Rhea Ripley was NXT‘s Golden Girl – the one widely tipped to be the star of the main roster’s women’s division post-Horsewomen Era. Unfortunately, she was defeated by Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36 and is only now recovering from what was widely deemed an unnecessary defeat. Here’s the thing though: Rhea Ripley is money. If there is anyone in the WWE that can carry an entire division on her back, it’s the young woman (she is still only 26!) from Adelaide, Australia. At this year’s WrestleMania, she will have the opportunity to reclaim what was her rightful destiny against the one who took it all away in Charlotte Flair. On tonight’s SmackDown Elimination Chamber fallout episode, they will meet face to face and no doubt discuss their upcoming, well-anticipated match.
Not Announced But Expected For SmackDown
– It is a certainty, given how important this storyline is, that we will get more Bloodline related drama tonight. We can be sure that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will continue their path towards the rekindling of their friendship, as well as more focus on the tumultuous, fractured relations between Roman Reigns & Jey Uso (the man who should be the one to dethrone Reigns, of course).
