Preview: GCW Save Me (1/7/23) – Full Card, Start Time, How to Watch

GCW Save Me

The city of Chicago isn’t unfamiliar to Game Changer Wrestling, so it’s no surprise that the company will return there for its upcoming show this Saturday. However, the venue will be entirely different, as GCW Save Me emanates from Thalia Hall. This venue has hosted everything from concerts to movie viewings, but it’ll be this weekend that it’ll be the arena where big and up-and-coming independent wrestlers ply their trade. If you’re curious about attending, tickets can still be purchased, but the action will also air live via FITE+; further information can be found below. Without any further delay, take a closer look at the action to expect.

THRUSSY vs Masons Mercenaries

A Heated Tag Team Encounter

The undercard set for this Saturday is incredibly promising, though it can be argued that this six-person tag team match has the most emotion behind it. This past October, at GCW Hit Em Up, Allie Katch faced Taya Valkyrie. During the course of the match, a mysterious man delivered a box to Katch at ringside. Upon seeing the contents of said box, Katch fled backstage. It turned out that this was the doing of Charles Mason, who was targeting Katch in an attempt to get to his true target, EFFY. Furthermore, Mason recruited the help of SLADE and Parrow, the three becoming known as Mason’s Mercenaries. At GCW Save Me, the nefarious trio will face BUSSY (Katch and EFFY) and their partner, Dark Sheik, the trio taking on the name of THRUSSY. Whether this match resolves the conflict between EFFY and Mason remains to be seen, but expect this contest to be nothing short of chaotic.

Joey Janela vs Tony Deppen at GCW Save Me

Tony Deppen Vies for the Extreme Title

In one of the title bouts set for GCW Save Me, Tony Deppen challenges Joey Janela for the GCW Extreme Championship. Though Deppen’s attempt to seize the GCW World Championship from Nick Gage at Amerikaz Most Wanted proved to be a fruitless endeavor, the Pennsylvania native hasn’t slowed down. This should come as no surprise given how prevalent Deppen has been on the independent scene as well as All Elite Wrestling, having appeared on various AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation episodes last year. This Saturday, he challenges Janela for the GCW Extreme Championship, which “The Bad Boy” has kept his grasp on since winning it this past October. Janela has shown that he’s capable of throwing caution to the wind if it means a victory, which could lead him to a successful title defense at Save Me. See who leaves Thalia Hall with the gold.

Los Macizos vs Bang Bros

Los Macizos Defend the Tag Team Belts

Another title match to keep an eye on involves the GCW Tag Team Championship. The reigning champions, Los Macizos, will defend the tag team titles against Bang Bros, the duo of August Matthews and Davey Bang. Game Changer Wrestling faithfuls will be all too familiar with the work of Ciclope and Miedo Extremo, both of whom captured the GCW Tag Team Championship on three occasions. Throughout their reigns, they defended the straps against Hate Trash Disaster, The Wolf Zaddies, The Mane Event, and many others. However, fans tuning into GCW Save Me may not be as familiar with Bang Bros. The current Black Label Pro Tag Team Champions have been teaming since 2019, appearing for such promotions as BLP, Freelance Underground, Unsanctioned Pro, and GCW. Can Bang Bros defeat Los Macizos this Saturday, adding more tag team gold to their collection?

GCW Save Me will take place in Chicago, Illinois on January 7, 2023.
