The match between Miguel and Taurus was the final match of a tournament to crown a new champion. The previous champion Frankie Kazarian vacated the title to challenge Josh Alexander for the IMPACT World Championship, invoking the Option-C clause in IMPACT.
The match ended with some controversy. After a hard-hitting and back-and-forth match between the two, Miguel used a cheap tactic to get the win. He grabbed a can of spray paint and tossed the cap outside the ring. This distracted the official and allowed Miguel to spray Taurus in the eye, blinding him. Trey used this to pick up the pin and win the match.
Trey had to defeat Alan Angels and Speedball Mike Bailey to get to the finals in the tournament. Taurus had to defeat Laredo Kid and PJ Black to advance to the finals.
This is the second reign as X-Division Champion for Trey Miguel. He has also held titles in Warrior Wrestling, The Wrestling Revolver, and other promotions. Miguel is also known for being part of the Rascalz which were part of IMPACT Wrestling from 2018 until 2020.
