Preview: WWE — SummerSlam (7/30/22)

WWE SummerSlam Preview

This Saturday night, WWE presents its second biggest pay-per-view of the year — SummerSlam. There’s no question there has been a lot of buzz surrounding WWE and this show could have the most eyes on it in quite some time. The card has a number of major rematches, including the main event that will see Roman Reigns defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing Match. Much like the past two months for WWE, there’s no doubt this match should be a newsworthy one. Here’s a look at the full SummerSlam preview including the full card with match thoughts and predictions.

WWE SummerSlam Preview: Match Thoughts & Predictions

What will Seth “Freakin” Rollins do now?

Seth “Freakin” Rollins no longer has a match at SummerSlam and it’s pretty much all his fault. At the conclusion of the Raw main event where The Bloodline defeated Riddle and The Street Profits, Rollins went down to the ring to attack his SummerSlam opponent. “The Visionary” would hit a Curb Stomp to Riddle on the steel steps, giving him a stinger. As learned Wednesday night on The Bump, Riddle will not be cleared to compete at SummerSlam and will now miss the show due to injuries suffered from the attack by Rollins.

Rollins, the funny guy he is, tweeted following the announcement that he wished he didn’t have to miss SummerSlam but things were out of his control. This is when Triple H stepped in, suggesting that there may be a good chance Rollins ends up with an opponent after all. The turn of events has been interesting to watch as it seems there’s a good chance Rollins could be facing a mystery opponent once again after doing the same at WrestleMania.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if “The Architect” can find himself on SummerSlam this year but all signs point to Rollins being there and ready to compete — if he likes it or not.

Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch: The End of a Rivalry

26 seconds. Another WrestleMania moment. These both have a lot in common. They were the results of Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch at last year’s SummerSlam event and this year’s WrestleMania. Last year was a complete embarrassment for Belair, who watched Lynch come down to the ring in her return to WWE and defeated her in 26 seconds after trying to show respect to “The Man.” And at WrestleMania, it was Lynch who walked away embarrassed as Belair won the Raw Women’s Championship and had another WrestleMania moment.

These two women have impeccable chemistry that led to one of the greatest women’s wrestling matches in the history of WrestleMania, so there’s zero doubt this match will deliver. It should be another great showing between these two. But who will be able to walk out as winner? Belair needs this more than Lynch. It’s just a fact. Despite “Big Time Becks” slowly drifting into insanity over no longer being champion, a loss for Belair could destroy her much like last year’s loss nearly did. “The EST of WWE” needs the win and should be the one walking out with the win.

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar: One More Time

Roman Reigns. Brock Lesnar. Last Man Standing.

It couldn’t be more fitting that these two men are wrestling in a Last Man Standing Match this Saturday night and in the main event. After all the news and controversy surrounding WWE in recent months, this is the type of match they need. And it’s safe to say that the past few matches between these two titans have been… underwhelming. Knowing what both men are capable of, they should be putting up WWE match-of-the-year contenders every single time they face off. If there was ever to be a time that happened again between these men, this last man standing war will be it. And as WWE has teased, this very well may be the final time they ever go head-to-head.

“The Tribal Chief” has been the most dominant champion of the 21st century. Along with The Bloodline, Reigns has held the Universal Championship for nearly two years. In those two years, he’s beaten the likes of John Cena, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Goldberg, and his opponent Brock Lesnar — twice. He’s added the WWE Championship to his collection since winning the Universal Championship and that was after beating Lesnar at WrestleMania in the middle of the ring. But if there’s anyone who can stop “The Head of the Table” and knock him out of “God mode,” that man would be “The Beast Incarnate.”

Last Man Standing can lead two men to do some crazy things against each other. This should be physical. It should be violent. And it should be special.

And remember, Theory and the Money in the Bank contract will be waiting around to strike at any moment and potentially cash in. Anything is possible Saturday night.

SummerSlam Match Predictions
