Tomohiro Ishii defeated Clark Connors on Tuesday at New Japan Road to advance to the AEW All-Atlantic Championship match at Forbidden Door this Sunday night. This victory came one day after Ishii battled Yoshinobu Kanemaru in a spirited contest where “The Stone Pitbull” survived an impressive onslaught from the “Hell Master,” who focused on the leg of Ishii as he did in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament this year. Ishii joins AEW stars PAC, Miro, and the winner of Malakai Black vs. Penta Oscuro on Wednesday night in hopes of walking out of Forbidden Door as the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion.

Ishii will head into the Fatal Four-Way match with zero experience against any of the men he will be facing while each wrestler opposing him at least has some familiarity with one another. In some ways this could be a detriment to “The Stone Pitbull” but him being the unknown to his opponents could benefit him in the long run.

Forbidden Door begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, available on traditional pay-per-view, Bleacher Report, and NJPWWorld.com.
