On this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest defended the United States Championship against Finn Bálor. One week ago, Priest demanded a world championship-caliber challenger, to which Bálor accepted. This led to the aforementioned title match, pitting both men against each other in their first singles encounter in almost two years; Priest and Bálor last faced off in June 2020 at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, where Bálor was victorious. Their most recent match was no different, as Finn Bálor bested Damian Priest to win his first United States Championship.

Finn Bálor Captures the United States Title
What to Know Following Championship Victory
Following his United States title victory, Finn Bálor was addressed by Damian Priest. The former champion accused Bálor of having the crowd carry him to title victory. Priest took umbrage with, in his mind, the crowd not showing him that same respect. “The Archer of Infamy” claimed he would regain the United States Championship. Priest proceeded to lay out Bálor with a clothesline before attacking him on the outside of the ring, putting him through the announce desk.
With this victory, Finn Bálor has captured his first United States Championship in WWE. Since making his debut for the company in 2014, he captured various titles and earned several achievements. In addition to being a former NXT Champion and 2x Intercontinental Champion, he holds the distinction of being the first-ever Universal Champion.
