Key Details to Know Prior to the Crockett Cup
Following the NWA’s reveal of the bracket, only 2 of the 16 teams have yet to be unveiled. While one has yet to be decided, the other will be determined by way of a play-in, or 4-way match beforehand. The winning team of said match will go on to advance to the Crockett Cup, where they’ll go on to face La Rebelión in the opening round. It’s fair to expect that there will be other outside teams competing in this year’s tournament, so stay tuned as the NWA shares more information via live programming and social media.
Furthermore, per Billy Corgan, Matt Cardona forced one of the originally scheduled teams out of the tournament so that two of his own competitors could participate. Cardona forced Corgan’s hand, which resulted in Mike Knox and VSK being entered. It’s worth noting that Cardona will be involved in the Crockett Cup in his own way, as he defends the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Nick Aldis.
