#AndNEW: Yuki Iino Wins DDT Extreme Championship

Yuki Iino DDT Extreme Championship

The new group in DDT Pro-Wrestling, Pheromones, has been a controversial one, to say the least, ever since their debut in late 2021. What cannot be ignored, however, is their current success rate. Currently, they are the vacant KO-D 6-Man tag team titleholders. One of the leaders in their block of the Ultimate Tag League for the KO-D Tag Team Championship. Most recently, as of February 14th, Yuki “Sexy” Iino is now the DDT Extreme Champion.

Yuki Iino Wins the DDT Extreme Championship

What to Know Following Title Victory

Having gotten this title shot via intimidation of General Manager, Iino was confident in his challenge. However Shinya Aoki won the title three times over his career, two of those reigns almost lasting a year; these details made him a challenge. In fact, one of Aoki’s strengths in the Extreme Division is being able to step into the opponents strengths and catch him off their guard.

This was his strategy in his DDT Extreme Championship defense against Yuki Iino, as the stipulation chosen for the match was a Turkish wrestling match. Both men would have to be oiled up before the match could start. This would play into Pheromones’ antics but would take away much of the powerhouse Iino’s offense. Thus, even though it seemed like a minor disadvantage, Aoki could withstand the onslaught.

Ultimately, it became a bit too much for Aoki as both wrestlers were down on the outside for the 20-count. While Iino made it in, the champion slipped on the oil, rendering him unable to make it to the ring and beat the count. This would render Iino not only the winner but the new Extreme Champion. Immediately after the match, a new challenger was nominated by Iino: his former ALL OUT stablemate and former Extreme Champion, Shunma Katsumata. Katsumata originally refused the match. However, upon further intimidation of Hisaya Imabayashi, the match was made.
