Stardom heads to Osaka-Jo Hall for the first time ever for one final 10th anniversary celebration. Stardom 10th Anniversary Grand Final Osaka Dream Cinderella will not only retire the “dream cinderella branding” for Stardom but it will also be the first women’s show in Osaka-Jo Hall since AJW Wrestling Queendom in 1993. Stardom has pulled out all the stops for this show with five titles on the line and the in-ring return of Hazuki set to take place on this show. Let’s take a look at the card.
Stardom 10th Anniversary Grand Final Osaka Dream Cinderella 2021 Card
Pre-Show: Lady C & Waka Tsukiyama vs Oedo Tai (Saki Kashima & Rina)
Future of Stardom Championship: Unagi Sayaka (c) vs Ruaka
Cosmic Angels (Mai Sakurai & Mina Shirakawa) vs Rin Kadokura & Maria (both representing Marvelous)
High Speed Championship: Starlight Kid (c) vs Fukigen DEATH
Artist of Stardom Championship: Donna Del Mondo (Maika, Himeka & Natsupoi) vs Queen’ Quest (Momo Watanabe, AZM & Saya Kamitani)
Hazuki vs Koguma
SWA Championship & Syuri’s Right to Challenge – UWF Rules: Syuri (c) vs Konami
Wonder of Stardom Championship: Tam Nakano (c) vs Mayu Iwatani
World of Stardom Championship: Utami Hayashishita (c) vs Takumi Iroha (representing Marvelous)
Future of Stardom Championship – Unagi Sayaka (c) vs Ruaka
Unagi Sayaka has not been a lazy champion so far. Since winning the future title in July she has defended the belt three times. Her fourth defense may be her last as Ruaka is a tough opponent on her own but Oedo Tai could make their presence felt at any moment to swing the match in Ruaka’s favor.
High Speed Championship – Starlight Kid (c) vs Fukigen DEATH
Oedo Tai stablemates clash for the High Speed Championship here. Kid won the championship just a few short weeks ago and will more than likely walk away from this match with the title still around her waist. If DEATH does win she hopes to take part in a gravure photoshoot with the belt.
Artist of Stardom Championship – Donna Del Mondo (Maika, Himeka & Natsupoi) (c) vs Queen’s Quest (Momo Watanabe, Saya Kamitani & AZM)
DDM defends their newly won Artist titles against a very dangerous QQ team. Queen’s Quest used to dominate the trios title picture but haven’t held the titles since February of 2020 when they dropped the titles to the Donna Del Mondo team of Giulia, Syuri, and Maika. Either team could walk away from this match with the titles so this one will no doubt have watchers on the edge of their seats.
Reunion of Destiny – Hazuki vs Koguma
Hazuki makes her in-ring return to Stardom against an old foe. The match has been given the title “reunion of destiny” by Stardom as this is the first time Koguma and Hazuki have shared a ring since 2015. Hazuki’s debut match was actually against Koguma and they were attached from then on as High Speed competitors. Koguma retired in 2015 and by the time she returned earlier this year, Hazuki had retired so it’s safe to say fans never thought they’d see these two share a ring again. Hazuki will likely get the win in her return match to put her right back at the top of the card for Stardom. Koguma has been booked really well since her return to beating her will be a massive feather in Hazuki’s cap and a real statement win on her return.
SWA Undisputed World Women’s Championship & Syuri’s Right To Challenge Briefcase – UWF Rules: Syuri (c) vs Konami
Syuri has it all to lose in this match as she takes on former friend Konami. These two have history going back to their days on the Joshi indies, specifically REINA, where Syuri took Konami under her wing after Konami’s original trainer Asuka left for the WWE. Konami beat Syuri in the 5STAR Grand Prix which set up this match and it has since adopted UWF rules to incorporate the background of both women.
Syuri defending her right to challenge that she won in the 5STAR GP is not something that has sat well with Stardom fans as the GP winner has never had to defend their right to challenge before and it feels to them like Stardom is just copying NJPW. That also removes any semblance of drama from this match as there’s essentially no chance Syuri loses out on her Ryogoku main event spot, as she shouldn’t, so that’s a miss all around by Stardom.
This will no doubt be a fun match given the talents of both women but the right to challenge stuff bogs it down needlessly.
Wonder of Stardom Championship – Tam Nakano (c) vs Mayu Iwatani
We have a huge grudge match for the Wonder of Stardom Championship as Tam Nakano looks to defend against the “Icon of Stardom” Mayu Iwatani. The blood runs deep between Iwatani and Nakano going back to early 2018 when Nakano was forced to leave Oedo Tai and Iwatani immediately found her a new home with what would eventually become STARS. After that Nakano was loyal to Iwatani and always wanted to be her right-hand woman, even if Iwatani pushed her to the side on occasion when old friends returned to the picture.
Last year Nakano began to show open resentment to Iwatani, recruiting her own wrestlers to join a STARS sub-unit and making some scathing remarks towards Iwatani. This came at the worst time as Iwatani was going through a crisis of confidence after losing her World of Stardom Championship so it inevitably came to blows. In December, Nakano officially broke away from STARS and Iwatani to lead the Cosmic Angels. This was a necessary change for Nakano who has come into her own since standing on her own two feet but the way she went about leaving STARS has never sat well with Iwatani who still holds some resentment towards the Cosmic Angels.
Now that Nakano has established herself as a legitimate threat in Stardom she will feel this is hers for the taking but Mayu Iwatani has been almost unstoppable since defeating Oedo Tai in a gauntlet match recently. One thing is for sure, the emotions and anger these two hold will be on full display during this match.
World of Stardom Championship – Utami Hayashishita (c) vs Takumi Iroha
Iroha and Hayashishita battled to a time-limit draw in their 5STAR Grand Prix meeting with neither seeming close to a win. This time around they will collide with no time limit meaning that there will more than likely be a winner. Takumi Iroha is a decorated veteran of the Joshi scene who has won championships in WAVE, SEAdLINNNG, and Stardom. As the ace of Marvelous, she has become an almost unbeatable presence and will provide a tough test for Hayashishita who wants to hold the championship until December so she and Syuri can have a rematch at Ryogoku.
